ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver courses to students in specified discipline areas of study
• Evaluate and monitor individual student progress and provide feedback to sustain student success
• Research, organize and manage instructional resources, courses outlines, and community networks
• Conduct high-quality research in his/her own field and publish research outcomes in reputable journals and conferences
• Ensure a respectful and culturally sensitive learning environment in all college-focused activities
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships across the organization and community
• Motivate and inspire confidence in others (students and colleagues) to overcome limitations to personal growth and success

Technical Expertise in Mechanical Engineering

• Core Mechanical Engineering Concepts: Deep understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles, including mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, materials science, dynamics and vibrations, and structural analysis.
• Specialization Areas: Expertise in a particular area of mechanical engineering such as robotics, manufacturing processes, computational mechanics, renewable energy systems, biomechanics, materials science, or control systems.
• Application of Engineering Principles: Ability to apply mechanical engineering principles to solve real-world engineering problems, both in academia and industry settings.

Teaching and Curriculum Development

• Course Development and Instruction: Designing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering, including core courses and specialized topics. Courses may include subjects like statics, dynamics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, machine design, CAD (computer-aided design), and heat transfer.
• Active Learning Strategies: Employing a range of teaching methods, including lectures, problem-based learning, laboratory exercises, and project-based learning, to engage students and promote deep understanding of engineering concepts.
• Lab Supervision: Overseeing laboratory sessions and guiding students through experiments and practical applications of theoretical knowledge.
• Mentoring and Advising: Advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students on academic matters, career development, and research projects. Providing guidance on capstone projects, theses, and dissertations.

Research and Scholarly Activity

• Independent Research: Leading independent research projects in a specific area of mechanical engineering, contributing to the development of new technologies, theories, or methodologies in the field.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborating with faculty from other departments (e.g., electrical engineering, civil engineering, computer science) and industries to explore interdisciplinary research opportunities.
• Research Funding: Writing successful grant proposals to secure funding from governmental bodies, private industry, or academic institutions for research projects.
• Publications: Publishing high-quality research papers in peer-reviewed journals and presenting research findings at conferences, symposiums, and workshops.
• Supervision of Graduate Students: Supervising graduate students (Master's and Ph.D.) in their research, guiding them in their work, and helping them develop critical research skills.

Engineering Design and Problem Solving

• Design Thinking: Applying engineering design principles to solve complex problems, whether in the development of new mechanical systems, the optimization of existing processes, or the design of experimental setups.
• Computational Tools: Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or AutoCAD, as well as simulation tools for finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and other engineering modeling tools.
• Prototyping and Testing: Designing, building, and testing prototypes to evaluate new concepts, technologies, or methods in mechanical engineering. This may involve 3D printing, CNC machining, and other manufacturing techniques.

Laboratory and Equipment Management
