Teacher of Science | Science Teacher | IB Science Teacher - TAX FREE salary with benefits

Our client is a leading national school in the UAE with campuses in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. The school first opened its doors in 2002 and has become one of the market's leading schools delivering the USA Common Core and the IB curriculum to local students of the UAE. The majority of the teachers are western trained, coming from the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. There are also teachers from Arabic countries such as Jordan, Lebanon, and UAE. The school is seeking a highly qualified and experienced teacher of science to make a difference to the students. To be considered as a strong candidate the ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

• A graduate of a regionally or internationally accredited college or university with a minimum of a Bachelor Degree
• Native English speaking (Born and educated in a country with native English speakers as the first language)
• Certified / licensed as a teacher in the home country or from the country of College / University degree
• Elementary Education (K – 5) teachers must have an Elementary Education license / certification
• Minimum of two years teaching experience, if a holder of a Bachelor of Education Degree from a recognized accredited or nationally licensed University or College; or four years of teaching experience, if a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in a secondary education content area from a recognized accredited or nationally licensed University or College
• Meet highly qualified definitions for teaching in their content areas as identified by coursework listed on their undergraduate college and postgraduate transcripts and defined by No Child Left Behind Act (USA)
• Two confidential letters of recommendation from immediate past and current employers that are hand signed on official letterhead
• Knowledgeable of effective teaching methodologies, assessment strategies, standards-based instruction, and strong content knowledge
• Possess excellent interpersonal communication, collaboration, problem-solving, decision-making and relationship-building skills
• Understand and can use Standards Based teaching and assessment practices in the classroom
• Is student centred in their delivery of instruction in the classroom
• Understands the use of assessment data to design instruction that is differentiated based upon the individual and group instructional needs of students
• Uses technology to advance learning, manage information and deliver instruction effectively to students
• Is culturally competent and aware of the cultural norms of the UAE

Strong Considerations:

• Advanced coursework and degrees (Masters (M.A., M. Ed, M.S.), Education Specialist (Ed.S), or Doctorate (Ed.D, PhD, J.D.)) from recognized internationally accredited or national university
• Successful prior experience in teaching in the GCC region
• Experience teaching in American Common Core curriculum
• Experience in teaching in an International Baccalaureate World School (PYP, MYP, DP)
• Has received official IBO training and can provide a certificate indicating such training
• Experience in teaching High Scope Early Childhood Programs
• Has received official High Scope Training and can provide a certificate indicating such training
• Experience in teaching College Board approved Advanced Placement classes
• Has received official College Board Advanced Placement Training and can provide a certificate indicating such training
• Experience in sponsoring student extra-curricular activities

Students in the UAE are very lively, and so you need to be a teacher that has the ability to deliver practical and engaging lessons. The campuses are purpose-built to meet the needs of the students and the schools are also accredited by AdvancED and International Baccalaureate. The school promotes an enquiry-based learning style, and so I am looking for teachers that are innovative and able to work well as part of a team.
