Job Overview:
A well-established law firm in Columbia, SC, is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney to join its growing litigation team. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to work in a fast-paced and expanding practice, providing litigation services to clients across a variety of industries.
Duties:
- Draft and argue discovery motions, taking on both sides of depositions.
- Manage cases from inception through resolution, including trial preparation and courtroom proceedings.
- Conduct legal research and provide strategic advice to clients on commercial litigation matters.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys in complex commercial disputes, offering a solution-driven approach.
- Maintain case files, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
- Foster strong client relationships, offering timely and effective communication.
- Participate in the firm’s business development activities to expand the client base and service offerings.
Requirements:
- At least 1 year of experience in commercial litigation, ideally from a mid-size or large law firm setting.
- Demonstrated ability to draft legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and discovery.
- Experience with case management and client interactions.
- Strong oral and written advocacy skills with attention to detail.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to legal work and firm development.
- Must be, or willing to be, admitted to the South Carolina Bar.
Education:
- A Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Active membership in the South Carolina Bar or willingness to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
