The post is based at the Neurosurgery department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
The successful candidate will be fully involved in neurosurgical services and will participate as a leading member of the multidisciplinary team for the assessment, management and follow up of patients with neurosurgery conditions (cranial). The appointed candidate will be expected to perform on-call emergency and urgent neurosurgical work and participate in the neurotrauma service.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in a 1:9 on-call rota to provide cover for cranial neurosurgery. On-call activity includes emergency lists, ward rounds and external emergency referrals as part of the emergency service.
The main scheduled department activities are listed below, and the appointee's job plan will include these as part of a 10 PA job plan. The successful candidate will be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and will be encouraged to participate in clinical research.
