We are looking for an Underwriter, Financial Institutions based in London.

Your Team

Based in London and reporting to Head of Financial Institutions, you will work closely with clients and brokers to develop personalised solutions as well as developing new relationships. You will be responsible for underwriting profitable new and renewal business to meet Financial Institutions targets regionally including global elements. Your responsibilities also include negotiating participation, pricing and terms and conditions, acquiring new business and retaining existing business.

The Impact You Will Have

As an underwriter at Allianz Commercial, you will play a pivotal role in driving our financial lines business forward. Your expertise will directly impact our profitability by securing and renewing high-quality accounts that meet Line of Business (LoB) targets. Through skilled negotiation, you'll optimize participation, pricing, and terms to ensure favorable outcomes. You'll take ownership of key accounts and clients, fostering strong, long-term relationships with brokers and clients alike. Your strategic approach and relationship-building skills will be essential in maintaining Allianz's reputation for excellence and in delivering tailored insurance solutions that meet the evolving needs of our diverse client base.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

• Underwrite in line with Financial Institutions governance framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles.
• Ensure contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception.
• Drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including Market Management, Risk Consulting, Claims, Operations.
• Manage referrals from underwriters and re-underwrite complex business as appropriate.
• Contribute to the development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy for Financial Institutions.
• Create and maintain positive relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers).
• Ensure accurate policy documentation is issued to producers (where it is Allianz Commercial's responsibility to do so) or producers has issued documentation (where producer responsibility).

What You'll Bring to the Role

• You have a degree either in Economics, law or other appropriate discipline.
• You have at least 3 years' experience as an Underwriter, Broker or relevant equivalent in the Financial Institutions sector.
• Ideally you are CII qualified or equivalent or working towards it.
• You have experience underwriting profitable business in the Financial Institutions segment of large corporate international insurance.
• You have recognized relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level and are well established within the market.
• You have a specialized understanding of regional / local Financial Institutions insurance markets and competitor landscape.
• Capable of leveraging data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective.
• You have a good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework.
• You can design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings for contracts.
