Job description

Wrightington Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

The Transformation Team is looking for a Delivery Manager to join its team to instigate, develop and deliver improvement projects. The role will take a hands-on approach in doing this working alongside clinical and non-clinical colleagues within the Divisions to make a difference to patients.

It is an exciting time to join WWL and its Transformation Team as we continue and accelerate our ambition to see quality at the centre of cost improvement, whilst we support the long-term recovery from the COVID pandemic. Working across the system with partner organisations such as CCGs and Local Authorities, we support services and teams to transform, improve the quality and safety of care, and deliver safe, efficient and affordable services which enhance the patient and staff experience.

This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager's agreement for a secondment arrangement prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis for 12 months to provide cover for an employee on secondment and will end in May 2026 or when the substantive postholder returns. While this post is advertised on a fixed term / secondment basis, there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.

Main duties of the job
  • Enable the organisational development and implementation of an effective cost and quality improvement programme for the Trust.
  • Scope and develop plans to deliver and manage the implementation of projects to support service transformation and cost and quality improvement delivery on time and within budget.
  • Be 'hands on' with the delivery of improvement projects, having personal responsibility for their successful delivery.
  • Track and monitor the implementation and sustainment of projects and programmes ensuring delivery.
  • Develop excellent working relationships to ensure that collaborative approaches are used consistently across all projects whether across services, Divisions, or between organisations.
  • Work with the Divisional Teams and Transformation team to plan and monitor project cost and quality improvement delivery, reporting issues and supporting the identification of schemes to close any gap.
  • Act as a source of expertise on change management, service transformation and project management providing resources for projects - including guidance, full project management and delivery responsibility - as and when agreed and within available resources.
  • Act as a resource for service transformation knowledge, skills and expertise supporting the Divisions, the wider Trust and Partnership organisation to grow and develop skills within their own departments.
