Life on the team

An opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join our Smart Infrastructure team at Computacenter on a permanent basis. You will be managing projects that deliver structured cabling and related technology projects in the UK and when required internationally. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a team that has had a fantastic growth journey in Computacenter with exposure to diverse and interesting projects for enterprise and global customers.

What you’ll do

1. Successfully manage customer projects to time, cost, quality and customer satisfaction objectives.
2. Assist the Bid teams in pursuing new business leads and in the preparation of competitive tenders or pricing with regards to design, procurement, working methods and resourcing.
3. Maximise the revenue from contracts through scope growth and variation orders.
4. Ensure that the projects are delivered in accordance with company and customer processes, procedures and statutory obligations, taking overall responsibility for project quality.
5. Ensure that the necessary project practices are in place and used and developed to reflect recognised best practice.
6. Ensure provision of professional project planning throughout the project lifecycle.
7. Ensure provision of timely and accurate internal and customer project reporting.
8. Operate with regard to the Health & Safety of employees and third parties, ensuring consistency with company and statutory obligations.
9. Line manage employees directly assigned to the project(s) consistent with employee expectations, general company policy and best practice.
10. Professionally represent the company at all times, protecting the company assets and its reputation.
11. Participate in any training that the company may from time to time, reasonably ask the incumbent to undergo, to achieve accreditations and qualifications that are deemed essential for the fulfilment of duties.
12. Propose and champion innovations and improvements to the business and its processes.

What you’ll need

1. Experience of delivering large scale standalone projects and network transformation programmes.
2. Minimum 5 years project management experience in the structured cabling industry.
3. Experience of all project management controls, including initiation, change management, risk management, project planning and the principles and practicalities of running projects.
4. Experience of managing a team of project managers.
5. Prince2 Practitioner qualification or equivalent.
6. Be familiar with industry standard testers and testing procedures.
7. Must be prepared to travel, including overseas as and when required.
8. Excellent technical understanding of structured cabling design and technologies.
9. Experience of owning and driving the commercial accountability of projects.
10. Demonstrable leadership skills and personal gravitas.
11. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships.
12. Able to apply a variety of influencing skills to enable the required outcomes for your stakeholders, to enable positive assignment outcomes.
13. You must be articulate, a self-starter, have strong communication and stakeholder management skills, and able to demonstrate experience in pragmatically solving problems.
