Job description

JGA is partnering with a leading organization in its sector, seeking an Interim Head of Payroll to oversee a high-volume, complex payroll operation and lead a dedicated payroll team.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage payroll operations across 11 entities, including future acquisitions.
  2. Collaborate with HR on benefit reporting and payroll-related processes.
  3. Lead and support a small payroll team, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
  4. Process new starters, leavers, statutory deductions, and third-party payments.
  5. Oversee timesheet collation and overtime payments.
  6. Communicate payroll changes across the business.
  7. Ensure accuracy and compliance with HMRC regulations.
  8. Submit monthly pension contributions to providers.
  9. Prepare cost journals for PAYE payroll and compile financial reports.
  10. Support annual external audits and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
  11. Address employee payroll queries promptly and effectively.

Key Requirements:
  1. Extensive experience managing high-volume, multi-entity payroll operations.
  2. Proven leadership in managing small payroll teams.
  3. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processes.
  4. Experience in integrating payroll for new acquisitions.
  5. Skilled in leading payroll and business transformation projects.
  6. Compliance-driven, with a deep understanding of legislative requirements.
  7. Self-motivated with a proactive, "can-do" attitude.
  8. Excellent communication skills, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  9. Track record of managing centralized payroll functions and meeting tight deadlines.
