Job description

We are pleased to invite applications to this newly created post within our Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment services. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Advanced Clinical Practitioner who is passionate about SACT and its management. This is a 2 year fixed term 8a post and is 37.5 hours per week. This is a Surrey & Sussex Cancer Alliance funded post with access to support and educational opportunities.

Applications for this post are invited from nurses who have had recent senior experience in SACT. We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking individual who is flexible, self-motivated, and reliable plus a good team player and leader. The successful candidate should have a degree and advanced clinical practice skills and expertise. They should have excellent communication skills both verbal and written. They will play an active part in clinical practice, education, research/audit and the implementation of national guidelines and transformative services. The successful applicant will work as part of a well-established dynamic SACT team who provide specialist treatment, advice, holistic care and support to patients, relatives and members of the health care teams. They will be required to support the further development and delivery of SACT services to improve and maintain standards of patient care.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an innovative nurse who is highly motivated to improve practice for patients receiving SACT.

To provide specialist support and advice to cancer patients who receive SACT. They will work alongside the Lead Chemotherapy Nurse, the site specific Cancer Nurses and the AOS Team to develop and transform services.

The post holder will use collaborative and independent judgement to assess, investigate, diagnose, plan, implement, manage and evaluate clinical nursing care and management of patients. The ACP will provide clinical management including on-going assessment, investigations, procedures, treatment and management of patients in SACT services.

The ACP takes a lead on audit, research and development initiating the implementation, evaluation and development of multidisciplinary guidelines and protocols, incorporating current best evidence in consultation with medical and nursing staff for the care of patients across the Trust.

The post holder will promote the concept of clinical governance and facilitate the implementation of the nursing/midwifery/AHP Strategy and work within agreed Trust/Unit protocols and guidelines.
