UK-Med is a frontline medical aid charity. Born of the British National Health Service, we’ve been working for over 30 years towards a world where everyone has access to quality healthcare when crises or disasters hit.
We are seeking experienced In-Patient Surgical Doctors who can be available to travel and work internationally at short notice for a minimum of 4-6 weeks (longer availability is highly desirable) to deploy in emergency responses globally, including current humanitarian crises such as in Gaza.
Our Ideal Candidate
You are a fully licensed and experienced surgical doctor, skilled in performing emergency and essential surgical procedures, managing trauma cases, and providing post-operative in-patient care. You have experience working in diverse clinical settings, including conflict-affected and emergency environments.
You must hold a valid medical license and professional registration, demonstrating unconditional membership in a recognized medical body. Experience in humanitarian or low-resource settings is highly desirable, with an ability to adapt surgical care to challenging environments where resources are limited.
You are resilient, adaptable, and highly collaborative, capable of working in fast-paced, unpredictable situations while maintaining high clinical standards. Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to ethical, patient-centred care are essential. Additional language skills would be an advantage.
What We Offer
Joining UK-Med’s Humanitarian Register means you will be considered for deployment to international emergency responses based on the needs of each mission. This is not a full-time or permanent role, and deployment is not guaranteed, as it depends on the specific profile needs of each response. However, we offer excellent learning opportunities and the chance to make a real impact in humanitarian healthcare.
If you’re ready to apply your medical expertise to provide in-patient surgical care in emergency responses, we would love to hear from you!
To apply, please submit a current CV and a supporting letter (2 pages). Your covering letter must include a detailed explanation of your suitability for this post with specific reference to the criteria in the person specification.

The selection process consists of two stages:
Interview Stage: All applicants will go through an initial interview stage.
