About the job

We're currently recruiting a New Product Development Manager to work within our Commercial Team. This is a permanent, full time position.

In this role you’ll lead and implement the Brand & Trading strategy for the development of Own Brand products. You will ensure that all products deliver against their benchmark and that innovation & newness reflects customer needs. Working alongside your technical colleagues to ensure that all products comply with Morrisons technical policies.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and agree the strategic direction on innovation & product development in your commercial area to deliver against Own Brand & Commercial targets.
  • Ensure all new products are developed to required quality standards and land on time as part of agreed activity.
  • Develop strategic relationships with suppliers to ensure delivery of agreed iconic lines.
  • Actively seek out food trends and apply to your new product development, both within the market and future thinking.
  • Improve nutritional content of Own Brand products – delivering robust plans for Salt, Sugar & Calorie reduction.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure a total customer offer is developed across food and that duplication is removed.
  • Lead and deliver internal / external PR of Own Brand.
  • Control and maintain integrity of all product documentation.

This is a hybrid role operating over a 4.5 day week. This role is based at our fantastic head office in Bradford. Boasting an on-site restaurant, coffee shop, convenience and sample store, prayer room, free parking and regular company-wide events and promotions. Ideally, applicants will live within a reasonable distance of our office.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has:

  • Food Science / Technology background.
  • At least 5 years practical experience of Product Development gained from either retail or manufacturing organisation.
  • Creative thinking and ability to convert insight / trends into finished products.
  • Ability to break down the cost drivers of product formulation.
  • Adaptable, can prioritise & flex to the changing needs of the business.
  • Knowledge to create right plans for delivery.
  • Excellent project management, organisational, decision making and communication skills.
