Our Data Engineering and Platforms Team is seeking an IT Business Analyst to join our growing team in the Worcester, MA location. This is a full time, exempt role.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Information Technology (IT) Business Analyst (BA) serves as a primary contact for all of the business requirements and processes. The IT BA is responsible for the elicitation, analysis, documentation, and communication of business requirements as well as end user readiness of business solutions. They assess the needs of a business partner through direct interaction and look for technology opportunities to develop and support the growth of the business. The IT BA may specialize in a specific knowledge area, set of technologies, or applications an organization uses, roles such as: Service Request Analyst, Process Analyst or Agile Analyst.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Be responsible for researching, collecting, prioritizing, documenting and communicating requirements gathered through various techniques
- Recommends alternatives based on business knowledge
- Develops relationships with business partners by demonstrating an intermediate level of knowledge of the business strategies and objectives as they relate to their processes, products, people and systems and by providing timely and accurate information between stakeholder groups
- Understands an intermediate level of awareness of the external industry trends and competitors
- Participates more broadly across the project life cycle starting with requirements through design, testing, implementation, including supporting design and testing, with accountability for specific deliverables
- Participates across multiple project methodologies-agile, waterfall, iterative
- Solicits & applies standards and best practices as defined by the BA Center of Excellence (Coe) and the Project Management Office (PMO) and is accountable for ensuring the application of those best practices
- Works independently and may mentor other IT BA’s to do the following: Partner with the project team in providing business context and ensuring the success of the QA deliverables and business acceptance testing
- Partner with implementation management and business stakeholders to ensure successful delivery and adoption of a technical solution
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field. May have additional certification or specialized training
- Typically requires 1-3 years of relevant work experience
- Ability to query data and data analysis skills. Intermediate SQL skills required
- Ability to develop knowledge and apply specialized skills such as: Facilitation, Business Rules, Agile, Process Analysis, Service Request
- At an intermediate level uses core BA skills: Aptitude to write unambiguous, verified requirements to a testable level (functional and non-functional requirements)
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and changing business requirements
- Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise in work products
- Willingness and ability to change business functions on an as needed basis
- Willingness to “own” an issue and follow through effectively until said issue is resolved
- Ability to work effectively with cross functional partners
- Good communication skills (oral and written)
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good facilitation, negotiation and consensus building skills o Analytical thinking and problem solving
- Ability to be detailed oriented and committed to a high level of accuracy
- Ability to develop knowledge and use of business modeling tools; process and workflow modeling
- Uses professional or technical expertise to advise, intervene, and/or influence a customer or internal partner to provide effective and creative solutions
- Synthesizes facts, trends, inferences, and key issues and/or themes in complex situations
- Performance Improvement Practices: Ability to identify, analyze and improve existing processes within an organization to meet goals and objectives. Understands and applies best practice methodologies.
