Sr. Software Development Engineer, Execution Planning, Last Mile Planning

The Routing and Planning (RaP) organization, within the Last Mile Technology (LMT) organization, plays a pivotal role in Amazon's mission to deliver packages to billions of customers worldwide. Our goal is to create the most efficient, reliable, and high-quality route plans for our drivers while ensuring safe, low-touch, and high-throughput solutions for operations. We’re challenged to constantly improve and innovate on our routing and planning software to support Amazon's promise of fast and reliable deliveries. The technology that is developed by our teams includes a wide breadth of solutions from Machine Learning (ML) and Operations Research-based routing and planning algorithms, in-house maps and navigation platform, IoT and hardware innovations, doorstep delivery experience, and the consumer-grade native mobile apps that bring all these experiences together.

Key job responsibilities

As a Sr. SDE, you will develop a deep understanding of our business, work closely with development teams, and own the architecture and end-to-end delivery of software components. We are looking for someone who loves solving hard problems in a collaborative environment, has high standards for quality and maintainability, and is looking to grow into a space where they can have a high impact on customers. You will work with other engineers on our team and in adjacent teams, as well as with research scientists, senior engineers, and product managers, to develop software to automatically create the best package plans, which are used all over the globe, multiple times, every day.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
