Temporary & Part-Time Event Waiter (London)
Job Overview
We are a leading event staffing agency in London seeking Temporary and Part-Time Event Waiters to join our team. In this role, you will represent our agency at a variety of events across London – from corporate functions and weddings to private parties and galas. The work is flexible and dynamic, perfect for individuals who enjoy a fast-paced environment and want to choose their own working hours. You’ll be an integral part of creating memorable experiences at some of the city’s most exciting venues while maintaining our reputation for excellent service. This is a formal yet friendly position: we value professionalism just as much as a positive, can-do attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve Food & Beverages: Politely serve appetizers, meals, and drinks to guests in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring dietary needs or special requests are attended to.
- Guest Interaction: Maintain a warm and professional demeanor at all times. Greet guests, respond to questions or requests, and engage with them to ensure a pleasant experience.
- Professional Appearance: Present yourself in proper uniform (black trousers, white shirt, etc.) and uphold high grooming standards throughout each event, as you are representing the agency and the client’s brand.
- Event Setup & Cleanup: Assist in setting up event spaces (arranging tables, linens, cutlery) before guests arrive. After the event, help clear tables, clean up areas, and pack away equipment, leaving the venue neat and tidy.
- High Service Standards: Work diligently to maintain excellent service quality, following instructions from event managers or supervisors. Adhere to all health and safety regulations, handle food and beverages safely, and ensure guest satisfaction at every step.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Prior experience as a waiter/waitress or in hospitality/catering is preferred (e.g. restaurant, banquets, or event service). However, we also welcome applicants keen to learn with the right attitude.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should be comfortable talking to guests and working as part of a team, with a good understanding of customer service etiquette.
- Reliability & Punctuality: A strong work ethic with reliable attendance. Being on time for shifts and dependable during events is crucial in delivering seamless service.
- Fast-Paced Efficiency: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Events can get busy, so you must stay calm under pressure, multitask effectively, and pay attention to detail (such as remembering orders or special instructions).
- Positive Attitude: Friendly, polite, and team-oriented. A positive attitude and willingness to support your colleagues contribute to a great atmosphere at work.
Benefits:
- Flexible Scheduling: Enjoy the freedom of choosing shifts that fit your schedule. We offer work on weekdays and weekends, mornings or evenings, giving you the flexibility to balance other commitments.
- Exciting Venues: Work at a variety of exciting venues across London. One week you might be serving at a historic landmark or museum gala, the next at a high-profile corporate event or trendy hotel. No two days are the same, and you’ll gain experience in diverse settings.
- Competitive Pay: We offer competitive hourly pay rates, with timely compensation for every shift. Your hard work will be rewarded at rates that reflect London’s hospitality standards (exact rates discussed upon hiring).
- Professional Growth: Opportunity to build your hospitality skills and network. Working different events helps you learn on the job, and our supportive team is there to guide you. Outstanding performers may be considered for future supervisory roles or longer-term placements.
- Supportive Team: Join a friendly, professional team through our agency. We pride ourselves on our supportive work culture – you’ll receive guidance at events, and we’re always available to answer questions or address any concerns.
