Business Development Manager (Corporate)
We are recruiting for a Business Development Manager to join our marketing leading Corporate and M&A practice based at the firm’s head office in London. This pivotal role will oversee business development activities for one of three core groups within the corporate practice, directly supporting the firm’s strategic growth initiatives.
The successful candidate will report into the Senior Business Development Manager for Corporate and manage a BD Executive in the team, working collaboratively to drive forward client cross-selling and targeting initiatives, deepen client relationships and deliver innovative content and event campaigns.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a hybrid role with an expectation to be in the office three days a week (with a requirement for four days during the probationary period) and the successful candidate may require some working outside our normal working hours of 9:30am to 5:30pm.
- Partner Relationships: Develop individual relationships with partners, supporting them on their personal BD activity including conducting monthly meetings with each partner and owning the agenda.
- Client targeting: Work with partners on their client targeting efforts, notably FTSE, private and international targets. Spotting and promoting opportunities and tracking and driving actions.
- Clients and Cross-selling: Identify cross-selling opportunities and the hooks we have across the firm to facilitate introductions and position the firm for work in new areas.
- Client Relationship Management: Support partners with their client relationships, ensuring they are benefitting from our marketing ecosystem and our value-added offering.
- Associate BD: Develop relationships with senior associates and support them on their BD activity, encouraging them to do BD and providing tips and guidance on best practice.
- Communication: Be the BD lead for one of the Corporate Groups demonstrating excellent communication skills in proactively updating partners on BD/Marketing activity that is taking place across the stream and the wider firm, joining dots and sharing information that ensures greater awareness and drives activity.
- Campaigns and content: Support the delivery and promotion of content and marketing campaigns through internal and external channels, including measuring and reporting on ROI.
- Events: Take the lead on Corporate flagship and practice-led client events, including management of client and targeting lists and capturing ROI.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
Candidates for this position must have:
- At least 4 years’ BD and Marketing experience, ideally within a professional services environment.
- Strong client relationship management skills, with a proven track record of developing and maintaining high-level relationships with senior stakeholders and clients.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage with senior stakeholders and deliver high-quality pitches, presentations, and proposals.
- Proven ability to manage and analyse large amounts of data and identify commercial BD opportunities within it.
- Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables independently within a tight timeframe and deliver high quality work.
- A self-starter with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities, solving problems, and driving business development initiatives to achieve tangible outcomes. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, spoken and presentational).
- Excellent attention to detail and good use of grammar.
- Proactive approach to defining needs and delivering solutions.

- High level of professionalism and integrity; displays the highest standard of professional ethics.
- A degree in business, marketing, law, or a related field is preferred. An MBA or equivalent qualification is a plus.
