Community Forensic Team - Band 5 Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join the Birmingham Community Forensic Team permanently. Our multi-disciplinary team works with individuals who have a learning disability and have committed a serious criminal offence or are at significant risk of doing so.

You will be a Nurse with experience within Learning Disabilities. You will hold a registration in Learning Disability Nursing / Mental Health Nursing.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within the framework of a multi-disciplinary team to provide support and guidance to adults with learning disabilities who have committed or are at risk of committing serious offences.

The post holder will have forensic clinical experience as well as knowledge and experience of conducting forensic risk assessments and developing and implementing risk reduction interventions. The post holder will be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will have a passion for person-centred care and integrated team working.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Supervision of Health Care Assistants in the community/forensic team.
  • Participate in training of student nurses and other staff.
  • Delivery of education/information and training to patients, carers, members of multi-disciplinary teams and others according to their requirements and within professional expertise.
Person specification
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse in Learning Disabilities (RNLD) or RN in Mental Health
  • Further evidence of Post registration training
Experience
  • Relevant experience of working within Multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience of working with people with a learning disability
  • Relevant experience of working with other agencies.
  • Experience of working within forensic inpatient and/or community settings
  • Evidence of mentorship qualification
Personal Qualities
  • Ability to be assertive
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to have a positive attitude
  • Ability to be sensitive to people's needs
  • Ability to be able to work alone.
