Job description

Principal/ Associate Structural Engineer

We are currently representing a world-class consultancy delivering high profile, inspiring professional multi-disciplined services to a range of public and private sector clients.

It will be your role to drive and deliver works across the discipline on diverse projects across sectors, including Education, Commercial, Residential, Airports, Defence, Energy, Civil Infrastructure, and Rail.

You will be responsible for the technical and commercial management of major projects, as well as providing inspirational leadership for the team.

You will be expected to assist the relevant department Director managing engineering resources and client needs, ensuring all projects are delivered to meet expectations.

Duties will include:

  • Completing planned work programmes and projects to timeframes and within budget.
  • Managing client needs, defining project technical specifications, managing costs, fees, and commercial requirements, and ensuring that projects are delivered to client satisfaction.
  • Assisting the relevant director in managing engineering resources across the Structural Engineering team.
  • Supporting business development activity to enhance, grow and diversify the engineering capabilities.
  • Managing the implementation of best practice in the Structural Engineering team.
  • Leading major projects ensuring that they are delivered to the specification.
  • Preparing designs, calculations, specifications, drawings and carrying out risk assessments for improvement, refurbishment and new building schemes, tendering documents, and supervising works to completion including agreeing interim and final accounts.

To ensure the continued delivery of the exceptional services the practice offers, you will be expected to be able to demonstrate a blend of commercial experience, professional training, and industry knowledge highlighted by the following:

  • Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer (CEng) with an established industry profile.
  • Extensive experience in delivering complex structural projects.
  • Expertise in steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber designs, and foundation systems.
  • Strong knowledge of design codes and standards.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, timelines, and technical delivery on high-profile projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in client-facing roles.
  • A passion for innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable engineering solutions.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and winning consultancy work.
