About the Team

This role sits within the Strategic Support Unit, which is a key part of our Communications Team. We provide vital administrative support to ensure smooth operations, by handling media enquiries, managing logistics and streamlining workflows. We are proactive in our approach, valuing agile and organised working to be ready to face the demands of a high-profile department.

The team is fast-paced, supportive and fun. We work collaboratively across the different aspects of communications (press, digital, events) in high-profile roles where our people are given ownership for their areas. Come and join us!

About the Job

In this role, you will cover 5 key areas of the Press Office:

  1. Press Support: Triage and respond to media enquiries via call and email, transcribe and record media rounds, maintain transcripts and coordinate press cuttings and updates to media lists.
  2. Fiscal Event Management: Recruit temporary media staff and locums for seamless event coverage, collaborate with the House of Commons press gallery and oversee the Fiscal Events mailbox.
  3. Service Management: Provide high quality admin support by updating databases, managing expenses and leave, and handling subscriptions for media clipping programmes.
  4. Office Management: Lead on financial admin by managing invoices and purchase orders, ensure office supplies are maintained and support the Head of Strategic Support Unit with team finances.
  5. Events and Visits: Assist the Chancellor’s Events and Visits team with database upkeep, event logistics, travel planning and tracking media coverage.

About You

You’ll be an experienced administrator with an eye for detail and a positive approach to problem solving. Your organisation skills will allow you to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines, and your communication skills are showcased in the way you interact confidently with a wide range of people. You’ll need to be proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with media monitoring tools.
