Job description

Overview: Working alongside our client, a leading 1st tier automotive supplier & manufacturer, we are looking for an experienced Cost Engineer to join their team.

Remit:

1. As a Cost Estimator you will work closely with the technical team to estimate costs for new paint enquiries and ensure all aspects of the painting process are accurately accounted for.

Role:

1. Create internal cost estimations for new paint enquiries.
2. Analyzing technical specifications and ensuring that all costs associated with the painting process are accurately accounted for.
3. Liaise with paint suppliers to obtain unit costs.
4. Maintain strong supplier relationships and stay informed on changes in pricing, discounts and delivery timelines.
5. Calculate paint costs based on unit costs and product surface area.
6. Estimate secondary costs such as scrap, rework, and polish.
7. Present cost estimates to the Commercial Department for review.
8. In collaboration with the commercial and technical teams, you will play a role in identifying areas where costs can be reduced or optimized.

Experience Requirements:

1. Experience in costing manufactured products is essential.
2. Previous experience in cost estimation or a similar role.
3. Knowledge of automotive painting processes is preferable but not essential.
4. A background in working with suppliers and cost analysis.
5. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
6. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
7. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
