We have an exciting opportunity on Silk Ward in Macclesfield for a Clinical Ward Manager who has the ability to provide management and clinical leadership to the multi-disciplinary team. Silk Ward provides specialist inpatient treatment and assessment for people with Dementia aged 18-65.

The ideal candidate will support the team to deliver person-centred care in collaboration with service users, carers and families, external partners and agencies, such as End of Life Partnership.

To have overall operational management and clinical responsibility for the delivery of safe, compassionate care within the unit, in accordance with Trust policy and procedures.

There is scope for development within the role.

Main duties of the job
  1. Provide line management and clinical leadership to the nursing and MDT, comprising of Consultant, Advanced Clinical Lead, AHP, SALT and Physio, to ensure person-centred care is delivered and meets standards for Quality and Safety in partnership with service users and carers.
  2. Lead a team of staff in the delivery of high-quality evidence-based practice, ensuring that regular supervision and appraisal takes place.
  3. Ensure systems are in place to manage administrative and operational resources in a cost-effective manner, evaluating the standard of service delivered.
  4. Co-ordinate multidisciplinary working, maintaining excellent communication and working relationships with all team members, and the wider unit to ensure effective interface and continuity of care between disciplines and services.
  5. Carry out nursing procedures to a standard that ensures safe and effective care and complies with the NMC Code of Conduct.
  6. Be responsible and accountable for the management of clinical care on the ward, ensuring the 6C's underpin the practice and delivery of care.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (Mental Health/Learning Disability)
  • Degree in nursing or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • RGN
  • Advanced clinical skills course
  • Masters degree / working towards in related clinical speciality
Knowledge and Expertise
  • Specialist clinical knowledge of medical and psychiatric conditions, diagnosis, treatment and care including contraindications and side effects to medication, relevant to the health speciality.
  • Knowledge & understanding of Recovery Model of Care.
  • Up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and quality framework associated with the clinical speciality (Eg MHA, Clinical & Social Governance).
  • Understanding and appreciation of Safeguarding procedures.
  • Understanding of the role and function of other organisations providing services to people with mental health needs and how these complement services the NHS provides.
  • Knowledge of performance management procedures.
