The Ministry of Treasury Board and Finance (TBF) is tasked with high profile and highly impactful work that reaches across all ministries and numerous provincial agencies, and which impacts all Albertans. TBF has responsibility for 42 Acts, in addition to related regulations.
As the Director, Policy, Legislation, and Governance, you will report directly to the Executive Director, Legislative Projects. You will be a key conduit between the Ministry’s leadership team and Alberta’s central policy coordination and executive bodies. This position demands exceptional political acumen, expert negotiation skills, and a proactive mindset to anticipate challenges before they arise. You will champion TBF’s legislative and regulatory strategies, ensure compliance with statutory obligations, and lead the governance framework that supports the Ministry’s agencies, boards, and commissions.
Your work will span diverse initiatives, including legislative and regulatory amendments, cabinet reports, governance of public agencies, ministerial orders, and orders in council. The environment is fast-paced and requires strong ability to navigate complex political landscapes, making this role ideal for a driven professional eager to have real and lasting impact.

A university degree in social sciences, business, law, or a related discipline, plus at least seven years of related experience in policy development and legislative processes is required. The following are considered assets:
This position is a permanent, full-time position working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Location: Terrace Building, 9515 – 107 Street NW, Edmonton, AB.
Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary. This competition may be used to fill future roles at the same or lower classifications.
