About the workplace
As a Senior Platform Engineer on our Digital Banking team, you are responsible for managing and optimizing our technology platforms, ensuring operational efficiency, and providing end user support. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will integrate systems, analyze complex data sets, implement effective solutions, and drive continuous improvements to enhance overall functionality and user experience. This role supports the alignment of technology initiatives with business objectives and delivering outcomes.
This role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office or Ontario home based office. Vancouver-based candidates may be expected to come into office at least once per week.
A typical day would involve:
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure digital banking platforms, including mobile and web applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions that enhance member experience.
- Develop, customize, and integrate vendor-based platforms, ensuring seamless functionality and adherence to industry best practices.
- Optimize system performance by analyzing key metrics, troubleshooting issues, and implementing technical upgrades or enhancements.
- Build and maintain APIs and integrations to support seamless connectivity with third-party systems and internal applications.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends, applying insights to drive innovation and improve platform capabilities.
- Partner with IT, security, and compliance teams to ensure platforms meet regulatory and cybersecurity standards.
- Provide technical leadership within the team, mentoring junior engineers and advocating for engineering excellence.
- Lead and contribute to the implementation of technical projects, including platform upgrades, new feature rollouts, and custom development initiatives.
- Document technical processes, system designs, and workflows to support ongoing platform management and knowledge sharing.
You have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on digital banking platforms or financial technology.
- Proficiency in mobile and web technologies, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and modern software development frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with vendor-based platforms and third-party system integrations.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented, proactive approach.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity, compliance requirements, and performance optimization for digital platforms.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Passion for innovation and a commitment to delivering exceptional digital experiences.

The salary range for this role is $81,200 to $122,000 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
