The Maintenance Planner is responsible for the efficient and effective use of planning and scheduling of all resources to conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities to ensure minimum downtime and reliable operation of the plant.
He is also responsible for improving workforce productivity and quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance resources, parts, materials, tools using Maximo, MS Project, MS Office, etc.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Planner include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform all administrative duties associated with operation, implementation and maintenance of Work Order module of Computerized Maintenance Management System (Maximo).
- Managing and tracking work orders, backlog, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment using Maximo.
- Develop an integrated maintenance program as per the requirement of OEM & equipment availability for reliable operation of the plant.
- Maximize the use of resources (parts, materials, manpower, special tools, external services, rentals) through optimized planning & scheduling.
- Collect and analyze data for all recurring corrective maintenance activities, prepare reports and make recommendations for reliable plant operations by coordinating with operation & maintenance department.
- Prepare detailed job plans which include scheduling and requirements of parts, materials, special tools, resources, and documentation.
- Coordinate with operation and maintenance team to prioritize the work orders for safe and reliable operation of the plant.
- Review work requests for accuracy and clarity: clear scope of work, realistic completion date, proper lead times, correct equipment identification, proper accounts code, and discuss details with the originator of the work order.
- Ensure that the work orders are returned promptly after job completion and all completed work orders are filled with all associated information by the Maintenance Personnel.
- Perform post-job review and identify changes needed for PM & PDM program to optimize the overall maintenance process.
- Prepare the outage report, cost, and recommendations.
- Work with the store to establish, maintain, improve, and optimize inventory and ensure that the spares are available during execution of work orders.
- Initiate and implement best practices in the plant with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.
- Support the Engineering Manager in the development and implementation of planned shutdown and other continuous improvement projects.
- Assist the Engineering Manager in planning and budget preparation processes.
- Carry out any other duties as directed by the management from time to time.
Knowledge and Skill Requirement
- Good understanding of the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities of modern Combined Cycle Gas Turbine plants.
- Good communication skills and leadership qualities.
- A good team player.
- Good organizing and planning abilities.
Key Competencies
- Well versed with CMMS software like Maximo.
- Ability to understand Engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Knowledge of maintenance management and inventory control.
- Available to work weekends and shift work when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Experience: 10 years of maintenance experience in a large power plant, preferably CCGT.
