Bachelor’s Degree in respiratory therapy or Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy (minimum two (2) years course duration)

Responsibilities:
Performs respiratory care procedures as per established policy and procedures, i.e. if required under the direction of senior staff and physicians.
Assumes responsibility for operating autonomously, utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Oversees and highlights the shortage of materials to Senior staff or supervisor at the earliest convenience, ordering replenishments when necessary.
Participates in the development and modification of respiratory care management plans and therapeutic goals for patients with cardiopulmonary diseases in consultation with physicians.
Assists the physician and Code Team in cardiac/respiratory arrest situations.
Provides advanced emergency airway care according to the approved protocol.
Performs and/or assists with pulmonary and sleep diagnostic procedures as required.
Provides troubleshooting of Respiratory Care equipment and highlights any maintenance requirements or breakdowns to senior staff.
Assists in the education, development, orientation of new employees, and preceptorship of students as assigned.
Participates in education sessions for department staff and other healthcare providers in secure handling of equipment, i.e. teaching, induction, peer review, case studies, and clinical presentations.
Accountabilities:
Assists and takes responsibility for the Respiratory Therapy support of patients and monitors patient response regularly.
Ensures patient receives the highest standard of care.
Practices within the expressed limits of established policies and procedures.
Ensures patient care activity data are documented in accordance with established guidelines.
