One of South Africa’s largest and fastest growing integrated independent power producers is seeking a Project Manager with a proven track record of at least 15 years post graduate experience delivering multi disciplinary infrastructure projects. The role is based in Cape Town Newlands and will manage the delivery of wind and or solar PV projects across South Africa.

The current pipeline includes 500 MW of projects secured under private power purchase agreements and financed through a limited recourse project finance structure. Additional projects are expected via government tenders and further private offtake in the short to medium term.

Construction is executed through a mix of Supply and Install and EPC contracting structures. Each project will have a site based Owners Engineer as the primary interface with EPC contractors. Other project participants include an Environmental Compliance Officer and a Health and Safety Auditor. Lenders fund about 70 percent of project costs and will have strong oversight via a Lenders Technical Advisor who verifies payments and participates in material decisions. Eskom grid connection and Grid Code compliance are critical. An Independent Engineer will certify readiness for grid connection and commencement of generation.

The Project Manager will be based in Cape Town but will travel to project sites regularly, including occasional extended periods away from Cape Town.

Reporting into the Head of Construction, you will be a key appointment in the Construction Management team responsible for delivering a portfolio of renewable energy projects from Financial Close to Commercial Operation Date and then through the Defects Notification Period.

• Manage day to day delivery of OEM Supply and Installation and EPC contracts, supported by the Owners Engineer and other service providers, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to required quality
• Draft, issue, and track all contract notifications, claims, and variation orders in line with the applicable EPC, PPA, and SBA timelines
• Schedule and chair monthly site progress meetings and any additional meetings required to manage the project effectively
• Manage ad hoc service providers appointed to support specific workstreams on the project
• Work closely with the Owners Engineer during commissioning and the receipt of the facility from the OEM and or EPC contractors
• Oversee handover to the operations and maintenance contractor and ensure the facility is brought into service
• Close out Supply and Install and EPC contracts after the Defects Notification Period
