Overview

Corporate Audit Services (CAS) is a corporate staff function of the ING Group, globally organized as a bank tier 2 function, reporting administratively to the Executive Board and functionally to the Audit Committee. CAS activities are carried out by ~410 staff members worldwide, with direction and global strategy provided by the CAS Management Team. The authority and mandate of CAS are established by ING’s Audit Charter. The Audit Division Head for Wholesale Banking Asia (ADH Asia) reports to the Global Audit Domain Head for Wholesale Bank (WB GADH), who in turn reports to the Global Head of CAS.

ADH Asia is a member of the CAS WB Management Team (CS WB MT) and acts as Functional manager for a team of ~17 professionals across multiple locations in Asia.

Your role

As an Audit Division Head for ING Wholesale Banking Asia, you will:

• Provide an independent and objective audit service to the Head of Wholesale Bank Asia. The role is not just compliance-oriented but geared towards giving true advice to ING senior business leaders.
  • Audit Approach: You determine the audit approach to cover the Asia region, including preparing the annual audit plan and priorities, considering internal and external developments, and keeping the Audit Universe of ING Bank Asia region aligned with organizational developments and global CAS approaches.
  • Audit Execution & Reporting: You ensure the audit plan is executed with high standards, and audit findings are reported to various stakeholders, including actions for improvement. You effectively provide assurance on the Risk & Control environment of ING Bank Asia region.
• Serve as the Global Subject Matter Expert on selected topics in line with your expertise, maintaining standard audit guidance, advising on audits conducted in your area of expertise across ING, and sharing relevant information around the global CAS organization as well as Wholesale Bank.
• Build and manage a team of experienced auditors across multiple locations, creating a safe work environment and a sense of belonging for staff members and other CAS colleagues.
• Engage with and influence a wide range of stakeholders, including regulators and external auditors.
• Build partnerships and collaborate across businesses and functions to improve the identification, quantification, measurement, management, reporting, and controls in governance, risk management, and internal control environments. Take initiative to promote a culture of collaboration and open, fearless communication across the organization.
• Contribute to the development of CAS organization and CAS strategy.
• Stay abreast of industry developments and keep up to date on strategic and regulatory developments for ING Bank Asia region and the wider ING organization.

Who you are

• You have a university degree and preferably over 15 years of work experience in audit and/or risk management and/or wholesale banking. You have a proficient understanding of wholesale banking and internal audit processes, including identifying and evaluating key risks, setting the audit scope, developing audit testing, and managing audit assignments. A strong understanding of the regulatory environment is key.
• You have a risk-based, strategic mindset, able to translate wholesale bank strategy and risks into focused audit priorities to drive the highest impact for the bank.
• You use your strong (data) analytics skills to drive impact and efficiency in audits.
• You’re a credible thought-partner to senior management, with strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. You know how to ask the right questions and get the right information, even when faced with resistance, and you can deliver messages in a way that suits different circumstances.
• You’re an experienced people leader with a track record of building high-performing teams.
• You’re sensitive in a multicultural context, able to navigate complex organizations and influence without formal authority across different seniority levels of stakeholders.
• You’re comfortable with transformations and have a track record in change and/or high growth environments, being agile, pragmatic, and possessing strong problem-solving skills.
