ING Bank covers Wholesale and Retail Banking in Asia Pacific. Our Wholesale Banking business is present and active in 11 major economies in the Asia Pacific, namely Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.

About the position

We have a great opportunity to join the Sector Support team which is part of the Sector Coverage organization within ING’s Wholesale Bank (“WB”). Sector Coverage is responsible for the relationship management of WB clients with focus on leveraging ING’s deep sector knowledge to originate commercial opportunities with these clients. This includes working closely with product stakeholders on the origination and execution of lending, transaction services, financial market, capital market and advisory deals. Ensuring a positive client experience is a critical aspect and the Sector Support team plays a key role in ensuring a seamless client experience.

The role would 1) lead and execute efforts to monitor and enhance process efficiency; 2) responsible for managing and overseeing Sector Coverage’s data assets to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.

At inception the scope of the role would be to support Sector Coverage activities in Singapore but over time may expand to involve other locations in APAC.

The role would also be required to work very closely with the Sector Support – Client Servies team, including sharing of junior resources where required.

Key responsibilities

Data Stewardship

  1. Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures
  2. Ensure data quality and integrity across all data sources
  3. Collaborate with IT and business teams to define data standards and best practices
  4. Monitor data usage and compliance with data governance policies
  5. Conduct data audits and quality assessments
  6. Provide training and support to staff on data management practices
  7. Maintain data documentation and metadata repositories
  8. Identify and resolve data-related issues and discrepancies

Operational Excellence

  1. Creation of workflow charts and dashboards to enable the effective monitoring of operational processes and escalation to senior management
  2. Conduct data analysis and process flows to identify trends, root causes and opportunities for improvement
  3. Leading Sector Coverage involvement in any new process role out
  4. Collaborate with other cross-functional teams to implement process improvements
  5. Drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence within the organisation.

Coordination with other stakeholders on various workstreams such as:-

  1. Internal and external audits.
  2. Product Approvals (PARPs)
  3. Risk and Control Self-Assessments
  4. Key Control Testing

Requirements

  • minimum 5 years relevant experience within banking, financial services, regulatory (financial institutions) or consulting industries
  • Direct experience in data analytics and/or process optimization projects
  • Experience working in either an operational excellence and/or data stewardship role with a financial institution.
  • General appreciation of data governance or data analytics
  • An ability to communicate effectively with senior clients and stakeholders
  • Well-developed influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure under stress
