Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Engineer to join our team in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This role will provide essential support to the Project Engineer in overseeing the execution of Data Centre projects. The Assistant Project Engineer will assist with day-to-day project tasks, ensuring smooth operations and timely completion of activities while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This is a contract position, offering the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Support and Coordination
- Assist the Project Engineer in coordinating all project activities to ensure alignment with specifications, schedules, and resources.
- Help in the development of project plans, timelines, and task prioritization.
- Track project progress and provide regular updates to the Project Engineer and other stakeholders.
Administrative and Documentation Support
- Support the Project Engineer with administrative tasks such as document preparation, filing, and maintaining accurate records of project activities.
- Assist in preparing and submitting project reports, progress claims, and relevant financial documents.
- Help organize and manage project documentation, ensuring all records are up to date and compliant with company and regulatory requirements.
Testing and Quality Assurance
- Support the Project Engineer in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Assist in ensuring that equipment, systems, and installations meet quality and performance standards.
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution of the project.
- Facilitate communication between different teams and stakeholders to address project concerns and updates.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all project activities are carried out in compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Help monitor site activities to ensure a safe working environment and adherence to health and safety protocols.
Progress Monitoring and Reporting
- Assist in reviewing and analyzing monthly progress reports, and maintain up-to-date project records and documentation.
- Support the tracking of project costs, schedules, and resource allocations.
Customer and Client Interaction
- Assist in liaising with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders on a day-to-day basis to resolve issues, answer queries, and ensure satisfaction.
- Participate in client meetings, helping the Project Engineer with any administrative or technical information needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with ad-hoc project tasks and duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or project management team.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and suggest ways to enhance project efficiency.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Prior experience or internship in project engineering, construction, or a related field is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of project management principles and construction processes.
- Software Skills: Familiarity with project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Excel).
- Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to communicate effectively with different teams and stakeholders.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and assist senior engineers with day-to-day operations.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to resolving issues.
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with local regulations and industry standards.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols and commitment to ensuring a safe work environment.
- Experience in Data Centres: Experience or exposure to data centre projects, Genset systems, or similar technical equipment is a plus.
- Location: Must be based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, and willing to work on-site as required.
