Title and Summary

Vice President, Technology & Engineering Overview:

Arcus by Mastercard is seeking a Vice President of Technology & Engineering to spearhead our product, engineering, and technology teams in delivering high-quality, scalable, and innovative solutions. This role is pivotal in ensuring timely and cost-effective product development while driving engineering excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and maintaining the highest standards of technology performance and operations.

The ideal candidate will utilize their leadership, technical expertise, and strategic mindset to align engineering initiatives and technology operations with business objectives, optimize processes, and empower teams to deliver impactful solutions.

Role:

1. Drive the vision, strategy, and execution for building and delivering modern, scalable, and high-performing technology solutions that align with business goals and drive innovation.
2. Provide leadership and strategic direction to multiple engineering teams, guiding the analysis, design, development, and delivery of solutions that align with Mastercard.
3. Collaborate with business owners, lead product managers, and other technology teams to define roadmaps, set priorities, and execute strategies effectively.
4. Lead and oversee technology and engineering teams across multiple geographies to ensure alignment, collaboration, and delivery excellence.
5. Develop and implement product development strategies that ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality products.
6. Oversee the design and operations of technology systems, ensuring they meet performance, scalability, and security standards.
7. Successfully manage large-scale, complex projects with broad organizational impact and long-term business implications.
8. Build, mentor, and retain top technical talent while fostering a culture of innovation, growth, and inclusion.
9. Drive the adoption of best practices in engineering design, architecture, and development, ensuring all solutions are scalable, resilient, and high-performing.
10. Lead quality inspections, architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, and security reviews to ensure compliance with Mastercard’s standards.
11. Evaluate and manage technology relationships with vendors, integrators, and third-party service providers to deliver high-quality solutions.
12. Act as a thought leader and advocate for Agile practices, promoting continuous improvement in delivery and operational processes.
13. Maintain alignment with internal and external stakeholders, crafting clear and impactful communications across all levels of the organization.
14. Partner with cross-functional teams to assess risks, remove roadblocks, and deliver technology solutions aligned with business objectives.

All About You:

1. Proven track record in senior leadership roles (e.g., Director, Vice President) managing medium-to-large product, technology, and engineering teams to deliver enterprise-scale technology solutions.
2. Strong history of mentoring and developing talent while driving a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
3. Hands-on experience in software engineering, development, and architecture, with a deep understanding of modern enterprise technologies.
4. Experience leading teams to build solutions optimized for scalability, resiliency, and performance.
5. Strong communicator with the ability to align stakeholders across technical and business domains, presenting information effectively to all levels of the organization.
6. Ability to balance long-term strategy with near-term execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
7. Advanced knowledge of software engineering concepts, methodologies, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
8. Detail-oriented, proactive, and highly motivated, with the ability to operate independently in a high-pressure environment.
9. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, resolve conflicts, and drive decision-making in cross-functional settings.
10. FinTech expertise preferred, including experience with financial technologies, payments, or banking solutions.
11. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
