The UW Senior function is meant to be a partner to the business segments, offering support, expertise, and partnership. The existing diversity of the business portfolio demands from the UW Senior role specialized expertise in the different business areas. The UW Senior team works with the business to support a wide array of products and offerings, through a complex and highly demanding distribution force and network. UW Senior has the responsibility of delivering and materializing the product offer and promise.

About the role

What you need to know:

This resource is in charge to contribute with 30% of the total budget for the line (13 million USD), mainly to increase new business for offline strategy in 2.2 million USD attending accounts over 7.5K USD. This includes analyzing around 1,600 submissions for new business, quoting 1,200 offers, and binding around 300 new policies, which in a competitive market requires providing timely responses and creating business relations with brokers, also promoting AIG GO business strategy with visits and training in CDMX and AIG offices mainly in Monterrey, Tijuana, and Puebla.

In addition, the UW is responsible for the renewal process of policies with loss history to accomplish with guidelines and profitability for renewal accounts, analyze terms and conditions for the renewals to achieve total renewal budget of 9.8 million USD, and monitor business drivers such as rate change and exposure change. This role is also responsible for portfolio maintenance and special programs following AIG GO strategy.

This resource also participates in different projects: SISE 3G, marketing strategy, and some automation projects.

Your contribution at AIG

The employee will manage a portfolio of 4.3 million USD and analyze around 530 new business submissions, quote approximately 400 businesses, and bind around 100 new policies per year.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Functional Responsibilities:

  1. Mainly attend business submissions over 7.5K USD (average premium) selected to quote those that meet guidelines and risk appetite, analyze, and present the quotation, following and negotiating to bind a new policy, always in communication aligned with the distribution team, taking account of SLA's as part of service in all processes.
  2. Participate in monthly renewal processes, ensuring compliance with guidelines, analyzing renewal terms and conditions for accounts with losses to revert results profitably for the next period.
  3. Maintain portfolio requests, providing timely responses to the information that the issuance team requests to process requirements, taking account of SLA's compliance as part of service.
  4. Interact with other AIG areas to provide information requests as: Claims to provide information on policies if it needs to continue with the claims process without taking part in the claim determination.
  5. Maintain UW information profile properly documented: including UW summary, authorization if required, UW analysis, and any other documentation to guarantee guidelines compliance.
  6. Attend external clients to promote, train agents and brokers to reinforce business line strategy, strengthening relations with agents and brokers to increase and create new business opportunities while promoting AIG values and behaviors.
  7. Collaborate with different internal areas of the company for the resolution of services that are outside the response times to achieve appropriate solutions and timely closures, always under UW authority and responsibility.
  8. Participate in different activities and cooperate with necessary information to prepare reports and monitoring of results, KPIs, and any other required information.
  9. Participate in assigned projects to improve operations such as automation processes or any other requiring active participation.

2. Accountabilities:

  1. Achieve individual goals with UW discipline established in the annual budget (monthly monitoring).
  2. Contribute to Team goals for new business strategy and retention portfolio established in the annual goal (monthly monitoring).
  3. Ensure proper accomplishment of UW guidelines.
  4. Accomplish SLAs established for all business requests.
  5. Attend internal and external clients requiring UW support.
  6. Participate actively in projects involving UW participation.

3. Leadership Skills

  1. Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal.
  2. Time management – ability to manage & prioritize workload and diary management.
  3. Ability to contribute effectively within a team environment and with internal/external stakeholders at all levels.
  4. Ability to assist with technical training to team claim handlers as required.
  5. Ability to influence claims and non-claims stakeholders to effectively direct claims strategy.

4. Technical Skills and Expertise

  1. Office Package: Intermediate or advanced level of Excel, Word, Outlook.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in actuary, engineering, administration, or similar field.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience:
    • At least 1 year of experience in Personal Property Underwriting or knowledge of Property Terms & Conditions.
    • Medium to advanced English.
    • People management experience is not required but is a plus.
    • Proven experience in handling problems with agents, brokers, and clients.
  • Along with technical skills required for the job, soft skills like effective broker engagement, commitment, teamwork, initiative-taking management, effective time management/prioritization, calendar organization, negotiation skills.
  • Effective analytical skills and attention to detail.
