Trade Compliance Analyst Mexico

The Trade Compliance Analyst will play a crucial role in ensuring that our company adheres to all trade regulations and compliance standards, while optimizing duty savings and maintaining accurate records. This position will utilize strong expertise in Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification and USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement) qualification to effectively analyze and execute all relevant trade compliance activities.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Accurately classify products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Canada HS, TARIC and Schedule B.
2. Perform regular reviews of HTS classifications to ensure accuracy.
3. Analyze and verify product eligibility under the USMCA.
4. Prepare and maintain documentation for USMCA certification and reporting.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper understanding and implementation of USMCA rules of origin.
6. Conduct post-entry audits to verify compliance of import transactions, ensuring accurate declarations and identifying discrepancies.
7. Respond to broker requests and support with review of performance against KPIs.
8. Create and manage the export paperwork required for shipments.
9. Review and classify products for export control purposes.
10. Verify that goods are not being exported to restricted or embargoed destinations and that proper licenses are obtained if required.
11. Ensure that export control classification numbers (ECCNs) are obtained for sensitive or controlled items.
12. Maintain records of export transactions, licenses, and compliances activities in accordance with regulatory requirements.
13. Ensure adherence to U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and other applicable international export compliance regulations.
14. Assist the Senior Customs and Trade Compliance Manager in implementing best practices to drive productivity and streamline opportunities.
15. Maintain accurate and organized records of all trade compliance activities and documentation.
16. Work cross-functionally with global and regional teams to carry out trade compliance goals and assignments.
17. Provide support related to country-of-origin determination.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or Logistics required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. 3+ years of experience in trade compliance and customs.
3. Strong knowledge of HTS classification and General Rules of Interpretation (GRI).
4. Experience with USMCA and knowledge of rules of origin and qualification requirements.
5. Thorough understanding of imports/exports regulations and compliance standards.
6. Working knowledge of duty drawback and best practices to maintain a program.
7. Excellent analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
8. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

7. Skilled in US Customs Trade program management and Harmonized Tariff Classification for Automotive.
8. Ability to learn and utilize various types of software / ERP information systems.
9. Ability to write, speak, and comprehend English.
10. Working knowledge of US Customs ACE portal.
11. Knowledge of organizational supply chain and systems.
12. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
