Staff Engineer, R&D Product Development

Location: Juarez Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico

We are looking for a Staff Engineer R&D Product Development to join our Juarez, Mexico Team.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Support new product development and existing product sustaining.
• Production/manufacturing support: sheet metal, plastic injection & extrusion molding and assembly process.
• Support engineering changes for conformance to company, customer, agency and industry specifications and standards.
• Prototyping and evaluation of new and existing products.
• Participate in multiple product development and cost reduction team efforts. Meets projects targets and schedules.
• Documentation of product requirements based on industry standards.
• Build innovative designs of new components and assemblies.
• Create documentation to support the release of new and modified products. Clearly and concisely documents own work.
• Support the optical and mechanical testing of new/existing products.
• Work with Manufacturing on process development and introductions of new products into Manufacturing.
• Perform data analysis and evaluation. Structures and solves diverse range of complex problems with little directions/supervision.
• Project management of specific elements of medium sized projects.
• Generate Record of Inventions for innovations.
• Ability to deliver technical improvements to existing products/processes/services where feasible resulting in cost reductions or quality improvement.
• Actively gives to codified knowledge base within CommScope.
• Contributes to multiple project level technology and product decisions.
• Thorough knowledge/experience with corporate, business unit and quality management system documentation.
• Detailed knowledge/experience with relevant industry standards and technical principles for fiber optic and telecommunications equipment products.
• Thorough knowledge/experience with the range of lab test equipment or equivalent.
• Detailed knowledge/experience with engineering tools such as LEAN and/or 6-sigma, DMAIC or other improvement process, DoE, FMEA, MSA, CAD software.
• Possibility for travel potentially to international locations.
• Position has growth potential per engineering technical ladder.
• Collaboration with current staff which includes other specialists and technicians in team-oriented environment.
• Recognized for technical contributions by engineering peers.

Required Qualifications for Consideration:

• Bachelor's degree in related curriculum such as mechanical, physics engineering or related.
• Proficient in English language (written and spoken).
• 5-8 years of related position experience.
• Experience in design of plastic and sheet metal parts.
• Very good knowledge on engineering changes.
• CREO software experience or any CAD design software.
• Solid interpersonal skills including excellent writing skills.
• Skilled at planning and ability to pay attention to details. Ability to optimally work within a team environment.
• Ability to deliver technical improvements to existing products/processes/services.

You Will Excite Us if you Have:

• Experience with design/manufacturing/test of telecommunications equipment used in Central Offices.
• Understanding of design for manufacturability.
• SAP ERP system knowledge is a plus.
