Role Overview:

The Materials Planner analyzes the requirements of materials and components based on customer demand, subsequently make the purchase orders ensuring the supply in quantity, time and place of the components based on the corporate inventory model to comply with the inventory and delivery goal on time established by the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze supply chain planning and place purchase orders with the supplier. Ensure confirmation that said order was received and that the shipping date was accepted. Coordinates the delivery of materials to the plant or, if necessary, to the point of use, coordinating their collection in collaboration with Logistics. Verifies the receipt of material in the plant and in the system.
  • Review and analyze forecasts, firm demand, consumption patterns to make decisions to expedite or defer purchase orders. As well as for exceptional requirements or increases in demand, generate necessary actions with suppliers and provide the plant with recovery plans to comply with on-time deliveries to customers. As well as projecting the impact on deliveries and delays in purchase orders.
  • Report risks in the supply chain, as well as the impact on deliveries to establish action plans. Establishes the flow of effective communication with the areas involved.
  • Create inventory management strategies through delivery frequency analysis, creation of pull systems or other improvements. Reviews and analyzes excesses and obsolescence of assigned part numbers to suggest their disposition.
  • Create and coordinate actions for those suppliers that are below the goal, relying on Purchasing, logistics, materials, and warehouse to achieve the supplier's on-time delivery objective.
  • Analyze and generate the expedited freight request. As well as generates and coordinates the necessary actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Manage engineering or supplier changes by ensuring consumption of existing inventory and order control of new product.
  • Generate forecasts for suppliers. As well as generates and coordinates the necessary actions for exceptions where the supplier cannot meet the demand.
  • Review, analyze and update the material master report in the system for purchased parts.
  • Provide support to the Purchasing area as a central point of information for consumption forecasts and inventory control in cases of supplier change. As well as coordinates inventory levels during said transition.
  • Contribute to the achievement of the organization's environmental objectives through correct compliance with the procedures and internal environmental policy, as well as the legal and governmental requirements that apply in environmental matters.

Critical Competencies for Success

  • Bachelor of International Commerce / Industrial Engineering / Business Administration
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in materials planning position in sourcing areas in a high volume. Automotive experience indispensable.
  • Fluent English, able to establish business communication.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
  • Advance Excel level
  • Use an ERP, the materials handle module (JDE desirable)
