We are looking for an immediate, full-time, permanent position in AMERICAS located in Mexico City, Mexico.

Job Purpose:

  • Under the direction of the VP, lead the Contract Risk Management (“CRM”) team in Latam.
  • Deliver a high-quality CRM service for all Spanish-speaking countries in Latam through risk identification and evaluation, advice on risk mitigation through recommended contract language changes, and trusted advice in connection with Insurance & Risk Management’s (“IRM”) product portfolio.
  • Serve as a key member of IRM’s CRM Americas team, interacting with colleagues to ensure business objectives are met and that the organization is performing to “best in class” standards.
  • Collaboratively manage the commercial interface between the business stakeholders and IRM staff regarding contract matters.
  • Conduct reviews of global Master Service Agreements (“MSAs”), frame agreements, bespoke/non-standard customer contracts, and non-standard scopes of work. Provide advice on the optimal commercial position on insurable risk with regard to commercial risk versus reward criteria.
  • Support VP with strategic advice for divisional boards on optimal CRM, business processes, and new and emerging risks.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives to help drive improvements and future direction of the CRM service in the Americas to help contribute to the success of our operating divisions.
  • Interface with Business Development, other commercial stakeholders, and cross-functional teams on multi-business unit contract documents to deliver comprehensive risk guidance.

Your tasks:

  • Seek opportunities to improve transactional/analytical tools to streamline the contract risk engagement and delivery process and ensure alignment with global stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with local, regional, and global Claims teams in connection with MSAs and bespoke customer contracts, as necessary.
  • Oversee other non-customer facing CRM matters including procurement contracts, IT contracts, lease contracts, and other vendor contracts.
  • Participate where required on Project Review Boards, Tender Review Boards, and similar decision-making bodies covering CRM issues.
  • Support VP on monthly management reporting of CRM activities.
  • In coordination with the VP, develop operative cost budget and SLAs for services provided in Latam countries. Manage the budget as established.
  • Manage contract risk inquiries to identify complex, time-critical, and standard contracts, and prioritize and allocate responsibility accordingly. Conduct reviews to ensure that risks associated with customer agreements are identified and propose changes, as applicable, to contractual liability, indemnity, and insurance terms, and address any other uninsurable risks as appropriate. Ensure identified risks are communicated swiftly and clearly to business stakeholders with alternative solutions where applicable.
  • Execute the CRM process by supporting the operating divisions with risk exposure reviews for new and renewing contracts. Provide transparency and commercial understanding of insurable risks present in customers’ contract documents through formal, well-written contract risk advice. Work with the global underwriting team to obtain risk pricing.
  • Quickly assimilate a good working knowledge of business unit operating models and sector strategies and be able to identify and evaluate the risk challenges that may arise.
  • Lead, manage, and develop any direct reports.

Your profile:

  • 10 to 15 years’ experience with logistics and freight forwarding business models including airfreight, ocean freight, trucking, warehousing, and related value-added services.
  • Deep understanding of contract terms and conditions included in transportation, forwarding, and supply chain/contract logistics agreements. Good understanding of insurance terms typically used in commercial contracts.
  • Ability to anticipate and articulate the impact of risk of deviations from standard T’s and C’s and risk bearing clauses in contracts and/or arising from non-standard logistics activities.
  • Experience presenting professional advice and recommendations to decision makers (e.g., division vice presidents and presidents, CEOs, and CFOs).
  • Proven record of consistent and concise management reporting on risk to a non-technical transport and logistics audience.
  • Experience in building and leading teams of direct and non-direct reports.
  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in business administration, logistics, science, engineering, or mathematics. Advanced degree preferred, i.e., LLM Transport & Maritime Law, MS, MBA, or JD.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English required.
