Software Development Engineer, Amazon Photos Desktop

Amazon Photos is looking for a Software Engineer to aid in building Amazon Photos solutions for our Amazon Photos Desktop app. You will ensure that the best engineering practices are followed and that our software is designed to be responsive, reliable and maintainable. You will be working with our great designers and product team to build software that millions use. You will work closely with other teams throughout Amazon to design and architect solutions that will scale to hundreds of millions of customers. You will be a role model and mentor for other engineers on the team. You will be part of a strong team in a fast-paced, start-up like environment where agile development is embraced and innovation is encouraged.

Key job responsibilities:

1. Design, develop, and deploy photo features for the Amazon Photos Desktop app.
2. Write clean, maintainable code and perform peer code-reviews.
3. Contribute best-in-class programming skills to develop innovative, consumer facing device experiences using a variety of technologies (C#, .NET, Xamarin).
4. Work with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.
5. Analyze and optimize applications to maximize speed and scale, factoring in network latency and bandwidth constraints.
6. Launch new features in the US and International markets working closely with other Amazon Photos teams.
7. Improve Operational Excellence including latency and scalability.
8. Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software with high velocity.
9. Help define standards, implement them, and promote best practices for your team.
10. Collaborate with product managers and UX designers to develop requirements and create solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
2. 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
3. Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
2. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
3. Experience developing Desktop apps using .NET.
4. Advanced written and spoken English proficiency.
