Senior Sofware Engineer (Linux) - Oracle Database Appliance

What is Oracle Database Appliance (ODA)?
ODA is a completely integrated package of software, computer, networking, and storage that is optimized and engineered to offer performance and scale for your Oracle Databases and applications.
It reduces complexity, saves time, and gets you up and running faster.
It supports both Bare Metal and VM deployments, so the customer can leverage the platform to fit better the applications they need.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design, develop, configure, maintain and troubleshoot Oracle Linux 8+ infrastructure:
1. Images and RPMs: image creation (anaconda/kickstart) and packages/services configuration (systemd/yum/dnf)
2. Networking: IPv4 and IPv6 configurations
3. Volume Manager: LVM and RAID configurations
4. Kernel (UEK) configurations
5. Virtualized environments: KVM image creation and packages configuration
6. OS security features
7. Script-based automation of tasks
8. Provide fixes and improvements to existing solutions
9. Provide specialized support to customers new or existing deployments
10. Collaboration with distributed team across multiple time zones

Required Skills & Qualifications:

1. 5+ years of experience
2. Solid knowledge in Linux Operating foundations
3. Proficiency with Oracle Linux 8+
4. Solid knowledge on CS fundamentals: data structure, algorithms, compilers, debuggers, etc.
5. Solid knowledge developing and debugging Shell scripting (bash), Python, Perl and Java based programs
6. Excellent communication, both written and verbal, to articulate technical solutions and concepts
7. Desire to learn about Oracle Database stack: Grid Infrastructure (Clusterware), Automatic Storage Management, Oracle Advanced File System, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Knowledge in Cloud-based platforms (OCI/AWS/GCP/Azure)
2. SQL knowledge
3. Infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform/Ansible/Chef/Puppet)
4. Containerization: Podman/Docker/Kubernetes
5. CI/CD tooling: Jenkins
