It positions Bain as a premium firm trusted to advise executives on businesses' most critical challenges and ensures a strong and credible presence across global media.

WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

Working under the direction of the Vice President, Global Public Relations, the Senior Manager, Global Public Relations is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive communications outreach for Bain’s practice areas and priority integrated campaigns. This person will play an integral part in building and protecting Bain’s reputation around the world among the firm’s key constituents. The role will ensure communications activities are aligned with the firm’s strategic business and brand objectives.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Build the reputation of Bain’s business and partners through premium media relations and public relations activities, including placing feature stories, targeted dissemination of research, conducting media tours around events and capitalizing on breaking news.
  • Develop a network of global partners, who are industry experts, mapping them to key journalists/publications to drive comprehensive outreach programs; media training experts for continuous improvement.
  • Build on the developed network of media contacts in leading business/ trade press and broadcast outlets to facilitate the placement of stories and interviews.
  • Manage relationships with external partner organisations (e.g. relevant industry associations) and clients’ corporate communications teams on joint press activities (e.g. book launches, CEO forums).
  • Strategize with Global Practice Areas, Practice Marketers and Market Reputation colleagues to develop communications plans for firm client development priorities.
  • Serve as the PR advisor between Global PR and Market Reputation colleagues across the Americas on regionalizing media campaigns.
  • Proactively advise on creative, out-of-the-box media angles that will continually raise the bar in how we engage with media contacts.
  • Consistently advise on communications approach for Bain leadership, providing counsel on broader framing and developing PR assets, such as press releases, pitch letters, key messages, etc.
  • Develop and oversee an integrated public relations strategy for Bain’s offices across the Americas, liaising closely with office leaders as well as market reputation colleagues.
  • Provide strategic council and coaching to senior leaders across the firm, advising on messaging and positioning for corporate issues and IP.
  • Support crisis and issues management strategy plan development and handling of unfavorable media requests.
  • Advise client case teams and client communications teams on issues management, as it relates to Bain’s work in the media/public domain.
  • Coach, manage and develop the team across the Americas and manage a member Global PR team member.

ABOUT YOU

  • 10+ years’ experience in a communications-related field, or in a senior communications role within the consulting or professional services industries.
  • First-hand experience in developing multi-channel external communication programmes.
  • Strong working relationships with editors and journalists at top publications (The Financial Times, Economist, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Fortune, Forbes, Reuters, CNBC etc.).
  • Proven track record of effectively managing a team and inspire collaboration while coaching junior staff, fostering professional growth, and encouraging a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Ability to analyze and grasp a wide range of complex business issues; strong interest in knowledge development and the dissemination of ideas.
  • Strong writing and editorial skills, in particular, the ability to distill complex ideas and research into news and information that prompt client inquiries.
  • Former experience as a journalist or broadcast producer preferred.
  • Stature and professional experience necessary to interact with partners as a peer.
  • A passion for results – a proven track record of high-value coverage in top-tier publications.
  • Outstanding influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivation and entrepreneurship, with an appetite for working in a low-structure environment.
  • Team orientation, with a strong sense of commitment to team members and client impact.
