Senior General Accounting Specialist

Role Summary

The Specialist, Accounting to Reporting (AtR) will be responsible for ensuring that the transactions for the division have been properly accounted for and accurately reflected in the company accounting records. The Specialist Accounting to Reporting will work closely with Local Finance, Commercial & MKT Teams to ensure that the accounting records: (i) accurately reflect the results of the associated business, (ii) are in line with US operations and (iii) comply with respective local statutory and tax requirements. The Specialist is also responsible for ensuring a robust control environment is maintained following all audit requirements. This role enables the AtR function to partner with its Finance and Business counterparts to ensure that business objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide general ledger support and analysis inclusive of period end financial close responsibilities for the Division.
2. Prepare and correct presentation of financial statements in compliance with both US and Mexican GAAP regulations.
3. Provide support across General Ledger and other AtR sub-process activities.
4. Maintain an accurate and current accounting ledger which reflects the country's transactional reality through timely posting of all required items.
5. Ensure that all transactions are correctly reflected in the ledger on a country basis.
6. Ensure accurate and timely period reporting that complies with Corporate and country requirements.
7. Responsible for monthly Account Reconciliation processes on a timely basis and adhering to all corporate standards and guidelines.
8. Actively identify opportunities for streamlining and rendering service delivery more efficiently and participating in special projects.
9. Work closely with other team members to effectively manage workload and gain exposure to multiple finance and business disciplines within the company.
10. Review and sign off the final financial package and the Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
11. Execute work in line with audit controls and accounting principles.
12. Collaborating and working together with our Virtual Finance Teams (COSI, IC COE, EMEA/Americas BSCs & Local Finance).
13. Ensure compliance of accounting standards & reporting SOX requirements.
14. Participate in Global Projects and Initiatives.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a finance or accounting department of a multinational company including demonstrated experience in dealing with US and ex-US accounting (Pharmaceutical industry a plus).
3. Business-level English skills (speaking and writing) required.
4. Experience using SAP desired.
5. Experience with US GAAP is desired.
6. Experience with non-US GAAP environments.
7. Experience with balance sheet reconciliations.
8. Experience working with global cultures.
9. Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
10. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organization skills required.
11. Demonstrated commitment to education and professional development.
12. Advanced problem solving and analytical skills with a proactive management style to implement new processes.
13. Intermediate to Advanced PC skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.
14. Ability to operate independently and remain focused through change or uncertainty and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy, timeliness and professionalism.
