Responsibilities
- Develop detailed daily and weekly production plan according to the master schedule.
- Issue job orders & documentation packets to production on a daily basis according to the detailed schedule.
- Update job orders already issued to the production floor according to engineering changes with immediate implementation requests.
- Review material availability for new job orders to release and expedite shortages with purchasing.
- Close job orders already completed by production.
- Supervise released job orders completion status with production and inform management about potential constraints and recommits.
- Maintain relevant data elements including lead time, order policy, safety stock, and other planning parameters. Review and update planning parameters.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure quantity & delivery requirements are met per schedule & implement corrective action plans as needed.
- Identify & resolve potential delivery issues with internal customers.
- Maintain desired inventory levels while ensuring maximum inventory turns.
- Review excessive inventories, establish root causes and resolve them. Help with disposition and elimination of obsolete and slow-moving inventory.
- Adhere to productivity & performance standards established by Manager.
- Update forecasts on an as-needed basis based on demand and design changes.
- Review capacity load per work center and re-schedule jobs to balance the load.
- Coordinate shipments of products according to shipment schedule: allocate product to customer orders, prepare shipping paperwork, expedite product export, and special shipping instructions.
- Daily communication with production supervisors to establish priorities.
- Expedite customer priorities: negotiate with production, purchasing, import/export, and McAllen, make commitments to customers and follow-up until requirements are fulfilled.
- Identify material shortages and expedite them from buyers and other planners.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Production Planner.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Understand MRP, purchasing & planning bills.
• Sense of urgency and good follow-up skills.
• Well-developed communicative and administrative skills.
• Must possess analytical skills, investigative problem-solving techniques, and the ability to receive and give direction to accomplish job tasks.
• Understands the inventory turns concept.
