Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Product Engineer based in Guadalajara North, reporting to Business Excellence Manager. Responsible for receiving, evaluating, cleaning, and customizing all technical information/documentation from the customer related to their product, derived from a New Product Introduction (NPI) or a design change to establish all necessary processes to manufacture it while maintaining its design and performance integrity.
What a typical day looks like:
- Handle product transfer and new product set up.
- Support production by assessing product engineering issues of diverse scope that arise on the production line.
- Suggest improvements to processes to obtain improved quality and production yield.
- Solve product-related problems and perform failure evaluation related to product issues.
- Interact with customers and various departments on product-related issues.
- Work with the design team to resolve design-related issues.
- Suggest modifications to work instructions, material, or product changes to ensure excellent quality of products.
- Evaluate customer’s Bill of Material (BOM) and define structure for production.
- Review Functional Product Documentation.
- Identify Safety Requirements and regulations compliance.
- Interpret Engineering Drawings of parts and assemblies.
- Request customers for drawing corrections, additions, clarifications, and measurement methods.
- Manage Engineering Changes Implementation.
- Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM), tolerance evaluation, Design of Experiment (DOE), and form-fit-function evaluations to define failure root/cause evaluation and reporting to customers.
- Provide support to supply chain to integrate parts derived from vertical integration or localization efforts.
- Provide product training to manufacturing/process engineers for better understanding of the product.
- Request, handle, and administrate golden samples, engineering samples of the final product and/or piece parts.
- Establish, operate, and maintain a standard method for technical information interchange with the customer to control and preserve information of NPI transferred projects.
- Inspect customer product parts and assemblies through model files using Computer-aided Design (CAD) system.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training.
- Bilingual.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Impacts the near-term (quarterly/semi-annual) operational success of the function. Creates functional processes or technologies.
- Executes functional strategic plans and objectives at the site. Demonstrates experience in leading major initiatives and provides input to those initiatives.
- Exercises independent judgment using ambiguously defined procedures and policies.
