Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Product Engineer based in Guadalajara North, reporting to Business Excellence Manager. Responsible for receiving, evaluating, cleaning, and customizing all technical information/documentation from the customer related to their product, derived from a New Product Introduction (NPI) or a design change to establish all necessary processes to manufacture it while maintaining its design and performance integrity.

What a typical day looks like:

• Handle product transfer and new product set up.
• Support production by assessing product engineering issues of diverse scope that arise on the production line.
• Suggest improvements to processes to obtain improved quality and production yield.
• Solve product-related problems and perform failure evaluation related to product issues.
• Interact with customers and various departments on product-related issues.
• Work with the design team to resolve design-related issues.
• Suggest modifications to work instructions, material, or product changes to ensure excellent quality of products.
• Evaluate customer’s Bill of Material (BOM) and define structure for production.
• Review Functional Product Documentation.
• Identify Safety Requirements and regulations compliance.
• Interpret Engineering Drawings of parts and assemblies.
• Request customers for drawing corrections, additions, clarifications, and measurement methods.
• Manage Engineering Changes Implementation.
• Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM), tolerance evaluation, Design of Experiment (DOE), and form-fit-function evaluations to define failure root/cause evaluation and reporting to customers.
• Provide support to supply chain to integrate parts derived from vertical integration or localization efforts.
• Provide product training to manufacturing/process engineers for better understanding of the product.
• Request, handle, and administrate golden samples, engineering samples of the final product and/or piece parts.
• Establish, operate, and maintain a standard method for technical information interchange with the customer to control and preserve information of NPI transferred projects.
• Inspect customer product parts and assemblies through model files using Computer-aided Design (CAD) system.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training.
• Bilingual.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Impacts the near-term (quarterly/semi-annual) operational success of the function. Creates functional processes or technologies.
• Executes functional strategic plans and objectives at the site. Demonstrates experience in leading major initiatives and provides input to those initiatives.
• Exercises independent judgment using ambiguously defined procedures and policies.
