Schneider Electric has an opportunity for a TEMPORAL Assembly Process Engineer for support of process development in the Schneider Electric Energy Management, Home and Distribution division in our TLAXCALA location.

What do you get to do in this position?

Individual is responsible to develop full and semi-automated assembly processes for new product introduction with a systematic approach to qualification and transfer to operations. The position reports to the Automation & Assembly Chapter Leader.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Participate with the Design function during the design phase of products to guide the Design for Assembly (DFA) relying on your experiences in production support. Be a driving force in the choice of assembly technologies by informing projects about limits and advantages of different technologies.
  2. Evaluate and validate product design alternatives to create optimum process designs by applying knowledge of product design, assembly, fixturing and materials. Ability to compare process scenarios for profitability and return on investment.
  3. Create detailed capacity analysis studies using various assembly methods and techniques. Comparison of manual, semi-auto and fully automated solutions.
  4. Define the material flow and handling used to supply the process.
  5. Plan and establish the sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts or products and to promote efficient utilization of resources (machine and human). Experience with line balancing techniques.
  6. Define the industrial technologies needed to assemble new products by utilizing the FMEA, VSM and Auto vs Manual studies. Enlighten the projects on the necessary levels of investment according to the scenarios envisioned.
  7. Contribute to the target cost by providing the product assembly time using systemic methods such as MTM analysis.
  8. Write specification and qualification plans for the means, tools, equipment and production lines to produce the product.
  9. Manage the realization of the production means at our suppliers (internal or external). Be strongly invested in the technical choices of the different equipment with manufacturing feasibility studies, cost of quality analysis and cross-functional peer reviews.
  10. Drive the qualification of the means (equipment and processes) at our supplier and internal operation sites.
  11. Participate in the ramp up of the production means to the operations site by leading training, industrial file definition and assistance with material setup and flow.

This job might be for you if you fit the following requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics.
  2. 3-5+ years experience in manufacturing industry directly supporting assembly operations.
  3. 3-5+ years experience industrialization of new products.
  4. Application on Lean and Six Sigma techniques – Experience in Lean Manufacturing tools (5S, Value Stream mapping, Kaizen events, Visual Workplace, etc.)
  5. Examples of continuous improvement, both to existing processes and launch of new ones, positively impacting safety, quality, and overall labor efficiency metrics.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Creo (ProE) or Solidworks.
  2. Simulation or production modeling tools (Lanner Witness, Rockwell Arena or equivalent).
  3. Basic understanding of PLC programming.
  4. Basic understanding of MES / MIS systems.
  5. Familiar with vision systems (Cognex, Keyence).
  6. Familiar with motion controllers and actuators (IAI, Yasakawa).
  7. Experience with electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

TRAVEL

Travel required up to 30% (domestic and international based on project assignment).

CRITICAL BEHAVIORS

  1. Able to work within a multidisciplinary and multicultural project team: Technical, Purchasing, Industrialization, Marketing, Quality on projects lasting one to three years and will ensure the link with the operations facility (participation in design and peer reviews for concept selection).
  2. Demonstrate ability to perform root cause analysis and develop action plans to strategically eliminate barriers.
  3. Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal).
  4. Proven ability to influence and convince through negotiation. Examples of previous leadership activities.
  5. Motivated self-starter, who able to work in parallel on multiple projects.
  6. Work with minimal supervision.
