The Bank for International Settlements is looking for a Principal Dealer (Interest Rate Markets, Foreign Exchange and Gold) to join the Representative Office for the Americas in Mexico City.

Principal Accountabilities:

The position supports the money market, fixed income, foreign exchange, gold and derivative dealing activities in the Mexico City’s dealing room. The principal tasks are as follows:

  1. Assisting in the pricing, trading, hedging and development of BIS Treasury instruments, both in the short and medium terms, and supporting the liquidity management of the Bank’s balance sheet;
  2. Assisting in developing the asset/credit book of the BIS by researching, pricing and investing in a range of assets for the BIS’s own book during North America’s trading hours;
  3. Assisting in providing foreign exchange and gold services to customers and executing related trades on behalf of the BIS and its clients;
  4. Providing quick and accurate pricing in relation to all of the above;
  5. Hedging and taking positions in accordance with limits and BIS policies;
  6. Reconciling P&L for the Bank’s books;
  7. Contributing to the development of new products on the asset and liability side;
  8. Observing financial markets and analysing market trends, political and economic indicators and countries’ financial and monetary policies, particularly in the Americas;
  9. Establishing and maintaining contacts with commercial banks in the Americas.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant work experience in a dealing position in a full range of treasury-related products.
  • Excellent knowledge of a broad range of products in all major financial markets.
  • Experience in FX or gold trading is desirable.
  • Knowledge of regional financial markets and their infrastructures is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of Spanish is desirable.
  • Good technical and analytical skills.
  • Strong computer literacy.
  • Dynamic and client-oriented with good interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to work under pressure on several issues simultaneously.
  • Excellent organisational skills. Capable of working in a multinational environment.
  • Good personal initiative and judgment.
  • Good team player.
