What do you get to do in this position?

This position is based in our Monterrey Development and Innovation Center (MDIC) design center in Monterrey, MX, and will involve some travel both within and outside of North America (5-10%).

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support of global design teams in the plastic materials selection with focus on Green Plastics.
  • Verifying plastics are compliant with application requirements and corporate rules (quality, supplier strategy, environmental, etc.).
  • Investigating and promoting alternative solutions.
  • Coordination with internal labs for component analysis as needed.
  • Creating, maintaining, updating, and approving data in the component database for assigned commodities.
  • Regular effective communication and coordination with the other TSM zones in China, Europe, and North America.
  • Initiating and sustaining contacts with suppliers and manufacturers, and obtaining information on materials (roadmaps, catalog, strategy, etc.).
  • Facilitating communication and interactions between suppliers and internal design teams.
  • Contributing or leading and animating technical networks.
  • Writing, publishing, and maintaining intra-company technical guides and directives pertaining to component selection.
  • Having a global vision of the Plastics/Elastomer technology, and representing North American needs.
  • Promoting standardization by interaction with key North American design centers.
  • Validating technological solutions to promote.
  • Maintaining the data and documentation database at a high-quality level.
  • Updating the database using the defined process and tools (NPR/CPR/permission/DBLoad).
  • Writing and publishing technological guidelines and local directives.

Qualifications

This job might be for you if:

  • Master in Materials Science and Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 10 years of experience in product design and/or materials engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in large multicultural teams.
  • Ability to negotiate solutions to complex business and technical problems.
  • Self-sufficient and proactive.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Curious and capable of independent learning.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required.
  • Advanced English skills.
  • Polymer knowledge is a must.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Contacts and experience with the polymers marketplace and related manufacturers.
  • Developed contacts network with plastics resins suppliers.
  • Project management and product evolution processes.
