Summary

The Indirect Purchasing Category Buyer role is responsible for the strategic and operational procurement of indirect materials, services and equipment required to support the organization's daily operations. This position will focus on the development of category purchasing strategies to improve costs, delivery, quality and efficiencies while adhering to company procedures and policies.

Key responsibilities

• Develops and implements comprehensive purchasing strategies focused on cost reduction, supplier consolidation, service delivery improvements, and process efficiencies, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.

• Manages the bidding process, including the preparation of RFx, bid evaluation, and supplier selection for materials, services or equipment procurement.

• Negotiates contract terms, prices, warranties, and delivery conditions with suppliers.

• Manages savings initiatives from concept to implementation and financial validation.

• Drives continuous cost reduction efforts within the assigned categories.

• Provides service to multiple sites and functional teams in Mexico and USA, interacting globally with suppliers, regional peers and requestors.

• Addresses miscellaneous administrative requirements and provides ongoing problem-solving.

Requisitos

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in sourcing and contract negotiation.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze large datasets to develop purchasing strategies.
• Proven project management experience, coordinating with cross-functional teams to achieve desired results.
• Experience working in a multisite, multicultural environment.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills at all levels.

Language skills

Fluent in Spanish and English (written and spoken).

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business.
