The Opportunity

This position works out of our Mexico City location in the Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) Division. We’re focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.

The purpose is to provide medical & scientific knowledge, advice and guidance to key stakeholders for ADC products, including scientific exchange and professional relationship building with KOLs, and provide medical & scientific input to Medical Affairs strategies and commercial plans as required including pipeline.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide medical & scientific knowledge, advice and guidance to key stakeholders for ADC products, including scientific exchange and professional relationship building with KOLs.
  • Establish and maintain peer-to-peer relationships with KOLs at major academic institutions and clinics.
  • Develop KOL engagement plans, collect insights, identify clinical investigators, communicate medical /scientific data, connect internal and external stakeholders, provide conference support, and support external stakeholder research activities.
  • Partner with the Marketing team to develop a strategy to train speakers.
  • Provide medical & scientific input to Medical Affairs strategies and commercial plans as required including pipeline.
  • Review and provide feedback on IIS proposals.
  • Support affiliate Clinical Affairs in the management of clinical studies, as appropriate (e.g. review new clinical study protocols, identify potential investigators/sites, conduct feasibility surveys).
  • Medical Affairs:
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge for ADC product(s) through attendance/participation at key internal meetings/training sessions, relevant congresses and seminars, and by regular self-study of the national/international literature.
  • Establish and maintain professional and credible relationships with key thought leaders/external experts and academic centers.
  • Review promotional materials of the Brand Team to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines, scientific merit, accuracy and validity. Advise the Brand Team on product-related activities and projects to ensure the Brand Team has the appropriate medical information.
  • Attend medical, professional, scientific and medico-regulatory meetings to represent ADC in compliance with the requirements of relevant government agencies. Deliver scientific presentations and medical education programs to healthcare professionals individually or in groups (meetings, clinical sessions, etc.), where appropriate.
  • Deliver training to sales forces and other departments; develop and update relevant training materials.
  • Ensure that local medical affairs implementation plans for ADC products/therapeutic areas are executed efficiently.
  • Pursue appropriate scientific publication opportunities with local KOLs.
  • Support local medical education programs for the healthcare professional audience.
  • Organize and lead local scientific advisory board meetings with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the affiliate Market Access team in projects for reimbursement of flash glucose monitoring and engage with important stakeholders related.
  • Corporate Activities:
  • Represent ADC’s medical/scientific voice of expertise for product(s) and relevant therapeutic areas.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable national laws and regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, Abbott policies and procedures, and accepted standards of best practice.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Doctoral degree / Medicine.
  • Endocrinology/Diabetologist specialist (preferably) or Internal Medicine specialist or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience in a similar role, minimum 1 year - 1 year of experience in Medical Affairs in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • English language proficiency.

  • Knowledge of the business.
  • Three years’ work experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
