The Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Establishes and directs manufacturing practices, processes, procedures, facilities, tools, and production equipment.
  • This position utilizes “lean manufacturing” principles to minimize inventory, maximize throughput, and optimize facility utilization.
  • Manufacturing of raw materials (such as custom glass, polymer, and acrylic materials), machining, polymeric processing, glass finishing, thin film coatings, optical bonding, opto-mechanical assembly, and optical metrology.
  • Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) of multiple products in a short time to the market environment.

Job duties:

  1. Work instructions, process control procedures, and operating procedures.
  2. Support introduction of new products onto the production floor, ensuring manufacturing readiness.
  3. Improve existing and new manufacturing processes and equipment, including a preventive maintenance program.
  4. Work closely with product development teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability.
  5. Establish appropriate methods, tools, equipment, etc. required to produce products in keeping with the Quality Management System and related standards.
  6. Time studies and establish labor standards for products.
  7. Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs.
  8. Layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  9. Defect, root cause, and propose corrective action.
  10. ECOs, and support the implementation and phase-in of product changes.
  11. Use of lean manufacturing and six-sigma concepts.
  12. Support in supplier quality, in-process quality, and efficiency improvement efforts.
  13. Directly lead improvement projects using DMAIC methodology.

KEYWORDS

  • From 1 to 3 years’ experience as a manufacturing engineer, preferably within the aerospace or medical industry.
  • Industrial engineer, or mechanical, preferably.
  • Hands-on, production floor oriented.
  • A high level of English at least 85%
  • Understanding of quality system, basic statistics, medical or aerospace environments, CAPA, fishbone.
  • Familiar with Visio software, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and innovative thinking.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.
