Objective of the Role
The IT Infrastructure Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the strategic development and management of hybrid cloud infrastructure and network security operations (NetSecOps) teams, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performance systems that support the company’s financial services products. This role also oversees and mentors Infrastructure Engineering Managers while fostering a culture of operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
As a key evangelist for the organization’s CI/CD platform, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) components, observability platform, and self-service capabilities, the Senior Manager plays a pivotal role in enabling autonomy for engineering and product teams. This position ensures that all infrastructure solutions and tools are aligned with business and product strategies, driving adoption of the platform’s features to optimize development workflows and operational efficiency.
Additionally, the Infrastructure Engineering Manager collaborates cross-functionally to align infrastructure initiatives with regulatory compliance, security standards, and the company's long-term vision, positioning the infrastructure organization as a critical enabler of scalable and reliable engineering practices.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor Infrastructure Engineering Managers, Observability and the NetSecOps team, fostering leadership development and technical excellence.
- Oversee the hybrid infrastructure team, ensuring they are empowered to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable infrastructure solutions.
- Promote a collaborative and high-performance culture, encouraging innovation and continuous learning within teams.
- Define and drive the career development plans for team members, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and personal growth.
- Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for hybrid infrastructure operations across AWS, Google Cloud, and on-premise systems to support the scalability and reliability of financial products.
- Ensure the infrastructure complies with regulatory and security standards, including those from Banxico, CNBV, and other relevant entities.
- Lead the optimization and management of resources across hybrid environments to ensure cost efficiency and performance.
- Act as the primary evangelist for the CI/CD and Observability Platforms, ensuring engineering and product teams fully leverage its capabilities for seamless deployments.
- Oversee the development and refinement of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) libraries, promoting standardization and reusability across teams.
- Advocate for and drive the adoption of self-service infrastructure capabilities, enabling teams to autonomously provision and manage their resources.
- Lead initiatives to enhance observability, monitoring, and incident response processes to minimize downtime and improve system resilience.
- Establish and oversee Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for infrastructure operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Collaborate with NetSecOps to implement robust network security practices, ensuring protection against emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
- Partner closely with engineering, product, security, and DevOps teams to understand and address their infrastructure needs.
- Ensure that infrastructure solutions and platforms are aligned with business goals, empowering teams to build and deploy high-quality products faster and more efficiently.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to financial regulatory requirements and standards.
- Drive the continuous improvement of infrastructure platforms, focusing on scalability, resilience, and cost-efficiency.
- Implement and refine infrastructure processes, incorporating best practices from ITIL, SRE, and modern software engineering methodologies.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to infrastructure operations, ensuring robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place.
- Prepare and oversee readiness for audits and regulatory reviews, ensuring compliance and operational transparency.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing insights into infrastructure trends, challenges, and opportunities for innovation.
- Present infrastructure performance metrics, challenges, and strategic initiatives to leadership and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and support.

Required Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Additional certifications or training in Cloud Architecture or Software Development Practices is a plus.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, Cloud Run, Kubernetes Engine, and BigQuery.
- Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and containerization (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Go, or Node.js, with the ability to review and contribute to codebases.
- Experience designing and implementing scalable, secure, and resilient backend systems using modern frameworks.
- Proficiency with tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Pulumi to define, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure programmatically.
- Expertise in building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Github Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, or AWS CodePipeline, ensuring seamless application deployments.
- Familiarity with observability frameworks such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Elastic Stack, or New Relic for proactive monitoring of distributed systems.
- Solid understanding of security best practices in cloud environments, including IAM, encryption, and network security.
- Advanced knowledge of network architectures, load balancers, CDNs, VPCs, and hybrid infrastructure connectivity solutions (e.g., VPNs, Direct Connect, or Interconnect).
- Experience in troubleshooting and optimizing hybrid network performance.
- At least 5-7 years of experience as a software engineer or in roles involving backend development, system design, and large-scale application management.
- Demonstrated ability to bridge the gap between software development and infrastructure engineering.
- Management, administration, and control skills for activities of different technical teams.
- Proven track record of managing managers and senior engineers across infrastructure and network security domains.
- Experience in leading distributed teams and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Proficiency in both technical and business communication, with advanced English skills.
