The Department of Economics seeks applications to fill up to three full-time tenured positions (starting in August 2014) in the following areas: Environmental Economics, Regional Economics, and Urban Economics. The Department, with its two campuses, is the leading Mexican research institution in applied economics and is growing in the areas of environmental and regional economics. This expansion includes the creation of a Master of Science program in Regional and Environmental Economics starting in Fall 2014. The campus Region Centro (in Aguascalientes), where the positions are based, offers excellent collaborative opportunities in research with colleagues in the other CIDE departments such as public administration and political science.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in economics, agricultural economics, or applied economics from an accredited institution by August 2014. Candidates are expected to provide evidence of potential to develop an outstanding record of scholarly research in Environmental, Regional, or Urban Economics and to publish in top-field journals in economics. Research on Latin-American issues is preferred but not necessary. The teaching load is at most three courses per year at undergraduate and master level.
