About the Opportunity

We are seeking a customer-centric trainer to deliver Zoom-based small group (7-14) sessions to technical users of Ellucian’s SaaS platform components. As a SaaS Platform Components Trainer at Ellucian, you will be one of the main resources for our customers' transition to SaaS, empowering them to navigate a new ecosystem of API-driven components designed for integrating Ellucian, Third party and Institution-Developed applications. You will train technical professionals who bring deep expertise in data management and Higher-Ed logistics, helping them understand, implement, and maximize the value of these tools. Through delivering comprehensive training on components such as Ethos Integration, Experience, Data Connect, Insights and beyond; you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our customers are equipped to succeed in this evolving SaaS landscape.

These sessions are open enrollment for our entire customer base. This position is responsible for ensuring consistently high-quality customer training experiences, including working internally to audit course materials, cadence, topics, and feedback as part of our continued effort to offer best-in-class customer experiences. The Trainer role sits in the Customer Education and Engagement team under the Customer Success and Support division.

We also offer occasional on-site ILT workshops upon request. This position has the potential of up to 15% travel to these on-site events (approx 2-3 per year).


Where you will make an impact

  • Independently deliver all Instructor-led Training (ILT) courses as assigned, preserving a positive customer experience for all attendees, ensuring all courses stay on pace with the overall design and achieve the learning goals promised.
  • Bring a high level of andragogical awareness – developing rapport and building a trusted learning environment quickly.
  • Prepare the environments and lead interactive activities, including providing in-the-moment feedback and solutioning for ILT attendees.
  • Review customer feedback about your own performance and the course materials, creating positive feedback loops with colleagues that focus on consistent and targeted improvements.
  • Team-level feedback on course offerings, ensuring they align with customer needs and with Ellucian’s business direction/goals, demonstrating creativity in identifying and proposing innovative course ideas to meet evolving customer needs.
  • Be empathetic when answering (and redirecting) customer questions, and show curiosity, making connections with people quickly and in a virtual environment.

What You Will Bring

  • Effective English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Fundamental Knowledge of REST APIs
  • Basic JavaScript comprehension and ability to write/debug simple scripts.
  • A customer-first attitude.
  • The ability to grasp technical and complex pieces of information alongside a passion for breaking down complex ideas into approachable and manageable pieces of information to be delivered to others.
  • The stamina to maintain stellar course leadership during ILTs that span several hours across multiple days.
  • Basic knowledge of professional software, such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • A process-driven mindset, with the ability to thrive in environments with detailed documentation and processes to adhere to.

Nice to Have

  • At least 2 years of teaching or training experience, preferably with adults/professionals and virtually.
  • Ability to interpret and explain React.js code
  • Previous experience working in a technical role with one of Ellucian’s primary ERPs (Banner or Colleague) AND previous experience in a technical role within a school or company's technical infrastructure.
  • A basic awareness of either pedagogical or andragogical best practices.
  • A process and data-driven mindset, with the ability to thrive in environments with detailed documentation and processes to adhere to.
  • The ability to independently manage several competing priorities well, following through with success.
