IAMSM Postdoctoral position for project
The Institute of Advanced Materials for Sustainable Manufacturing (https://tec.mx/en/institute-advanced-materials-sustainable-manufacturing) has been created to research, innovate and foster science and technological entrepreneurship in advanced materials and manufacturing processes with the potential to transform the manufacturing industry; our mission also is to contribute to a carbon-neutral economy through the discovery, development, and creation of advanced materials to achieve sustainable manufacturing.
The institute focuses on two main challenges:
Design of advanced materials for different applications to contribute to a net-zero emission and zero carbon footprint.
Creation and development of high-tech manufacturing processes to accelerate and rapidly scale up the production of advanced materials with minimum environmental impact.
The Institute invites early career, ambitious researchers to apply for postdoctoral positions to develop interdisciplinary research at a world-class level in the areas of solar water desalination where the purpose is to develop and apply advanced materials that contribute to the integration of different types of solar collectors (thermal, PV, and PVT) with different water desalination methods such as membrane distillation and reverse osmosis. This position is a one-year contract. Part of the position's responsibilities may include working with direct supervisors as a teaching assistant, not exceeding 25% of total time.
Requirements:
Must have earned a Ph.D. degree in the following areas of knowledge: Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Energy and Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, and Water Treatment.
Has outstanding leadership potential, commitment to developing an exciting and innovative research agenda to produce high scientific impact, technology development, or opportunities to develop technology-based entrepreneurship in the areas of solar water desalination, water desalination, and water treatment using different membrane technologies.
Desirable previous experience in the following areas: solar collectors, water desalination, production, and characterization of membranes for water desalination.
Experience with modeling (CFD software, Trnsys) and lab work (testing and monitoring of prototypes) is desirable.
Published scientific journal articles indexed in Scopus.
Profile SNI- CONACYT is desirable.
Previous teaching experience at a professional level.
Previous experience in international projects and collaboration in research and development projects financed by industry, and previous postdoctoral stays are desirable.
A team player open to interdisciplinary collaboration.
Demonstrated oral and writing English skills at least at the level of B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
